Leopardsun wouldn't allow herself to worry too much about Nightstar. He had ventured into WindClan territory with a WindClan patrol, yes, but he was a capable warrior long before he was leader and she was confident that he could handle himself. And nonetheless, she wouldn't be seen hovering around the border anxiously awaiting his return: ShadowClan's deputy had other things to attend to, entirely unrelated to their inter-Clan relations.

She made sure not to stray too far, enough that if something had gone wrong or they needed to flee she would still be close enough to hear it, but Leopardsun had tracked a hawk to the general vicinity of the WindClan border, where it had been pushing into ShadowClan land. Like most of ShadowClan, she tended to be mostly nocturnal, but the fact that she was awake and waiting for Nightstar to return in broad daylight meant she didn't need to go out of her way to hunt the hawk in daylight.

She slowly stalked toward her target, ready to catch it by surprise.

The hawk managed to strike back. She had been expecting that: in fact, she had been counting on it; as she let her teeth sink into its tail and pulled as hard as she could to keep it grounded. If she could keep it down, then this would be easy.

For a few moments, it was frozen still; but it began struggling before too long.

In her grasp, the hawk struggled to escape; but Leopardsun was relentless. She let loose a flurry of blows with unsheathed claws, still holding onto its tail with her teeth. After a number of strikes, it managed to free itself, and she spit out the feathers that it had lost in the process before plotting her next move; holding steady to withstand its counter-attack as it swooped down on her in search of revenge.

It was growing weaker. That much was obvious: the hawk's attempt to fly away was easily intercepted as it was moving much more slowly now. Leopardsun reared up onto her hind legs and slammed it down with her paws, delivering a swift killing blow just to be thorough.

Now that her task was complete, she took a moment to marvel at the feathers: they were patterned, not as colorful as some of the prey birds she recalled having seen in SkyClan, but beautiful all the same. She lifted up her prize, making her way back to the meeting place now that she had finished what she set out to do.
