Making the Rounds [Stoatpaw]

In Wolfblossom's opinion, it was simply too nice to sit around in camp. The air was cool and crisp, a soft breeze making the leaves rustle all around camp. Sunhigh light dappled the earth, including the patch of grass in camp that she'd stretched out in, but she was tired of sitting idle. Cats milled about camp, and she glanced around hopefully in search of one of her siblings. None of them, it seemed, was in camp at the moment, or they could've been asleep in their dens. Wolfblossom, for all that she enjoyed dragging them out on walks with her, didn't have it in her to wake any of them.

No, she'd settle for one of her clanmates today. She needed to get to know some of the newer apprentices and warriors, anyway. Spotting a less-familiar pelt near the camp entrance - what an excellent place to linger! - Wolfblossom padded forward with a wave of her tail.

"Hey, care to go hunting? Stoatpaw, right?" She regarded the apprentice as she neared with bright, earnest blue eyes.

It was a lovely day. The breeze and the soft heat of the sun almost made him want to laze around all day. He knew better than to try such a thing however, especially with Blackbear prowling around. He didn't know where she was, but if he was out of camp he would be less likely to run into her. He stood at the entrance to camp, debating whether of not he should find Asterpaw. Having someone to spend this day with sounded delightful, and he knew that someone couldn't be Lighttail. A somewhat familiar voice pulled him from his thoughts. "Uh, sure." Every time he interacted with a warrior something bad happened. Maybe this time would be different. "I was just about to go out on a hunt, I'd appreciate the company."

"Not like 'paws can go out on their own. Let's go." She responded, upbeat and cheerful as she led the way from camp. They didn't have to go far to run across the scent of prey. "Blackbird, this shouldn't take long." She mewed softly, then slunk away from Stoatpaw's side, being careful of where she put her paws as she stalked toward the bird from behind. Her prey didn't have a chance to make a sound as she leapt for it, quickly killing it and burying it between the roots of a tree. Wolfblossom glance around, instinctively keeping an eye out for her clanmate.

He wasn't allowed to go out on his own? That was certainly a shock to Stoatpaw, he had been out of camp without an escort almost on the daily. Had any warriors seen him leaving camp, and if they had why didn't they ever say anything? As Wolfblossom took off in the direction of her prey, Stoatpaw scented something else nearby. Dropping into a crouch, he stalked toward the familiar scent of a squirrel. A quick leap had the squirrel pinned beneath his paws, and bite to its neck finished it off.

Her words seemed to startle the young apprentice, and Wolfblossom laughed quietly at that. Even without him speaking, she could tell. She would have had much the same reaction, if Ravenclaw had ever left her to her own devices long enough to leave camp on her own, she was sure. "Hey, I won't tell anyone." If he'd gotten hurt while out and about alone, she was sure if would've been found up much sooner, anyways.

While she'd found her own prey, Stoatpaw had done much the same. "Nice catch," She mewed. The clan wouldn't go hungry today, and that was a good thing. The fluffy she-cat glanced around, hoping that their luck wouldn't end here.
