Snowpaw's Mentor Reassignment Ceremony

Hawkheart's death was an unfortunate one, but even though it caused the clan grief, life moved on. Snowpaw was left without a mentor, so it was only right that she was given a new one so that she could complete her warrior training.

Leaping atop the Tallrock, Smallbean surveyed the clan before calling out. "All those old enough to run the moors gather around the Tallrock for a clan meeting."

Owlshade hadn't attended too many ceremonies recently. It wasn't necessarily that he didn't want to... more that, they didn't usually involve him, so he always had better things to do. Like hunting, or patrolling, or sleeping, and it just hadn't worked out. But today, it seemed, luck (if you could call it that) was on his side. He'd just returned from a hunt, and was carrying a fat pigeon with him, when he heard Smallbean's call. Head tilted upwards to glance at the deputy, wondering what this one in particular was about, but he dropped the pigeon at his paws and sat near the center of the camp, waiting.

Snowpaw still grieved the death of her mentor, Hawkheart. He was a great mentor to her. She knew there was nothing she could have done to save his life yet she felt guilty. Snowpaw knew she had to have a new mentor. As Smallbean summoned the clan Snowpaw trotted towards the clan rock with her clanmates and sat down.

Smallbean thought that ceremonies had gotten easy. it sure was easy when he was able to repeat the same words every time. This time was much different. Not only did he have to improvise, but now he had to talk about the death of a clanmate. He sighed. It came with the job, he supposed.

"Snowpaw, please step forward. You've already become apprenticed, but with the loss of Hawkheart..." He trailed off, but quickly snapped back to life. "You're in need of a new mentor. So, with this announcement..." Why did it feel so awkward? "Your new mentor is Flutterpetal. I trust that he'll help you to warriorhood."

Snowpaw winced at the mention of Hawkheart. She recovered and walked forward. She liked Flutterpetal even though she hadn't interacted with him much. Snowpaw touched her nose against her new mentor. She knew she had to move on from Hawkheart's death.

Flutterpetal was simply there for the ceremony-- not expecting that his name would be the one that Smallbean called out. What? Him, a mentor? Trying to fill in Hawkheart's pawsteps? Feeling a slight tingling of nervousness in his feet, the fluffy black tom stepped forward, touching noses with the opposite-colored Snowpaw. He knew now that he was a warrior, it would happen soon... but he hadn't expected what Whisperear predicted to happen now. Or happen like this. Still, a small smile found its way onto his face. "I look forward to teaching you," he purred kindly.

"I look forward to learning from you." Snowpaw replied.
