One Paw at a Time [Open]

Roseburn had finally managed to drag herself, at least to the entrance of the den, looking out at the camp. She hated how she couldn't do anything. Her leg, although it was healing pretty well, according to Fawnshine, was still so painful to move. She couldn't put any weight on it, basically having to hobble around on three legs. She hated it.

A beetle had crawled it's way up out of the dirt, and Roseburn smacked her paw down towards it. She was annoyed with her situations, so taking it out on bugs would have to do for now.

Of course, just her luck, her paw smacked something else instead. The tail of a snake that had made it's way into camp. She screeched in pain as it lodged it's fangs into her paw, rearing back to swat it off with her other paw. Of course, that only shot pain up her broken leg, leading her to scream in pain once again. At the very least, she could feel her claws connecting with the vile reptile, ripping through it's scales.

Yowls of agony drew the Shadowclan cat to Flurrypaw's attention. In a heartbeat she had leapt to help her, teeth sinking into the reptile's skin, holding it in place until the creature went limp. Spitting the taste of its blood from her tongue, she then worriedly turned to the she-cat. "Are you alright? Should I get Fawnshine, Eggdrop?" concern laced her voice. It wasn't something her younger self would've pictured her doing. Especially since the cat in question was not family. Or even from the same clan. But the way her leg was injured... it reminded her of Mintpool.

An apprentice had come to her rescue, and Roseburn felt hot with embarrassment. Could she not even take care of herself anymore? The throbbing in her leg was answer enough.

Roseburn had to bite her tongue, holding back tears as she waited for the pain to die down, and for a while she was completely silent. At least the molly was a kind one, seeming to be sympathetic to her struggle. Roseburn definitely needed the sympathy right now.

Finally she managed to force out some words, although they sounded hoarse with pain.

"I'm, I'm fine, thhhhhank you."

It was so hard for her to get even those words out, but it had to be okay, right?

"If you say so..." the apprentice murmured, unable to ignore the she-cat's strained voice. She understood that sometimes it could hurt her pride to acknowledge the need for help, even if it really was needed, but at that moment, she felt that it would be alright. I'll just tell Eggdrop about it later. For now, Flurrypaw chose to accompany the molly, sitting beside her. I could say something... about Minty.. is it the right time? her hesitation to say something was clearly written on her face.

Nightstalker was glad that Roseburn was swiftly recovered by Thunderclan's apprentice, but there was another concern that made his belly feel heavy. It was a snake that bit her, and he knew that Shadowclan territory was chock full of them, he wasn't sure about Thunderclan, but he couldn't take the risk. "Yes. Get them. NOW!" Nightstalker barked, shoving his head hurriedly into Flurrypaw, he wasn't rough about it though, and only gave enough force to get the apprentice moving.

He was shocked that the apprentice just took it at face value. He was certainly going to give someone in Thunderclan an earful about this situation.

While her brother seemed to be panicking, Roseburn just groaned, lying down in an attempt to get comfortable again. The apprentice had looked like she was going to say something, but of course Nightstalker had to push her away. Insisting upon a medicine cat she didn't need.

"I said I was fine. The paw doesn't even hurt, it probably wasn't even venomous. Stop treating me like a kit, Nightstalker. I don't need taken care of."

Huffing in annoyance, Roseburn closed her eyes. Pretty soon she was going to be swarmed, and she hated it. It wasn't like she was on her death nest. Why did every cat treat her as if she was?

Right when she was about to go for it and for once, share something personal, the Shadowclan deputy of all cats, came rushing towards them. The tom's sharp commands and his shoving made Flurrypaw recoil and hiss. She knew better than to unsheath her claws however, and went to find Eggdrop and Fawnshine. "Eggdrop! Fawnshine! Someone got bitten by a snake; she's near the warrior's den-" she relayed, sticking her head into the medicine cat den.
