Shadow in the Sky [Honeypaw]

With so many new cats stinking up their camp, Wolfblossom had been eager to patrol and stretch her paws. It wasn't that she didn't like intereacting with others, but the Shadowclanners... stank to high heaven, to put it bluntly. And, whatever problems plagued their territory, they were still another clan. Of course, Wolfblossom didn't like seeing other cats suffer, but wasn't it possible for them to stay somewhere else?

So of course, she would be the one to run into one of them. Quite literally, in this case. "Ugh!" That's what happened when one got lost in their thoughts. "Sorry, sorry," Wolfblossom hopped backward, nose wrinkling in part disgust, part embarrassment.

"Yeah, well, that makes two of us. Not sure how I missed a Shadowclanner right in front of me." Wolfblossom muttered, offering a sheepish smile as she tried to shake away her irritation. Honeypaw, the tom introduced himself as, and Wolfblossom's tail twitched. "I'm Wolfblossom," Since he'd given an introduction it was only fair she do the same, and it would've been rude of her not to, she supposed. "I can imagine you're not thrilled about being here." The recent storms and wind had caused plenty of trouble with tree branches, though not nearly to the extent of flooding a camp and sweeping cats across a territory.

"I suppose a flooded territory is less ideal than a few extra cats on Skyclan territory. And this situation is only temporary, right?" At least, Wolfblossom hoped it would be temporary. Even more, she hoped Shadowclan would be able to go back to their own territory sooner rather than later, but for now what was Skyclan to do? Were it her clan that was in trouble, Wolfblossom would've been glad for the help. Didn't mean she couldn't be annoyed at it being her clan's territory many of Shadowclan's numbers had wound up on, but complaining about it wouldn't change the circumstances. "Were you out here hunting, or just trying to get away from the crowd back in camp?"

"I hope they're alright, wherever they've wound up. If some of you wound up here, then others might not be outside of clan territory entirely, right?" Wolfblossom didn't know how much that would be comforting to the apprentice, but it was worth a shot at least. She wasn't wholly uncaring, despite not being overjoyed by Shadowclan's presence. The tom mentioned a warrior's name, and Wolfblossom wondered if they were a mentor or friend. It wasn't her place to pry, however, though she knew if her now-former mentor Ravenclaw had been missing she would've been beside herself.

It should have irked her that a cat from another clan was asking about hunting on Skyclan territory, but Wolfblossom shook the impulse away. For the moment, Shadowclan was allowed to stay, and while they were here, that meant they could hunt. "Oh, sure. More prey on the fresh-kill pile is never a bad thing, and your clanmates need to be fed as much as mine. There's bound to be plenty of birds and squirrels around." She added. With that, Wolfblossom turned, bright eyes scanning the trees above for signs of prey.

Wolfblossom simply nodded at Forestpaw. It made sense to her that a non-Skyclanner wouldn't be used to tree-climbing, let alone hunting birds as a main source of prey, but being on such different terrain was going necessitate that for the Shadowclanners, it seemed. Turning, the Skyclanner leapt into the nearest tree rather gracelessly compared to many of her clanmates. She was on the larger side, and even had the rains and winds not made the branches potentially more treacherous than they normally were, shestill would have stuck to the lower branches of the trees.

It didn't take long for her to leap from branch to branch to be directly under a rather plump-looking quail. Launching herself upward, Wolfblossom's claws snagged the bird's wing as it attempted to fly and she quickly pull it toward herself, other paws catching on the branch as she did so. A quick nip to the neck to silence it before it could sound the alarm, and Wolfblossom landed on the ground with her catch triumphantly. Maybe... Maybe she was showing off. Just a little.

It seemed the Shadowclanner had been successful in his own hunting too. "Nice catch," She mewed, placing the quail in a rocky crevice and covering it with moss.

The praise hadn't quite been what Wolfblossom expected, but the warmth in her fur at the tom's words wasn't unpleasant. "Thanks!" She grinned, "I'm not the most graceful of my clanmates, but I get the job done all the same. If you saw Ravenclaw you'd think she was born in the trees." Ravenclaw, she suspected, would box her ears if she heard her former apprentice say that to a Shadowclanner, good thing Ravenclaw wasn't here right now.

"I know our terrain's probably a lot different than what you're used to, what's hunting on Shadowclan territory like?" Wolfblossom could just imagine mud-caked fur and supposedly treacherous ground. The trees could be treacherous in their own way, but you could avoid those problems by being smart.

As Forestpaw described Shadowclan's territory, Wolfblossom couldn't quite keep the mix of disgust and horror off of her face. "That sounds like it would be muddy on a good day... I like my paws staying dry. Even this weather is bad enough." Wolfblossom hoped he didn't take offense, but a territory that was constantly damp or wet sounded downright miserable. He continued, and Wolfblossom noted the way his demeanor shifted when he spoke of younger cats needing to be careful. "We should always be cautious." She agreed, gaze lifting to the branches. She'd heard stories of cats falling from them before, and being a larger cat Wolfblossom was always careful to make sure to stick to the lower branches, those that were wider and sturdier to better support the weight of a cat.

The subject change to lizards was a welcome distraction from that. "Yeah, most mice are bigger than lizards here, not much meat on them. Can't imagine that tastes decent. Plucking feathers can be annoying, but birds are my favorite. You can't beat the taste of quail."
