❒ The past moon and a half had been a rollercoaster for the clan. There had been days of mourning, days of joy, even days that had nothing happen at all. So, to combat all these disorienting situations, Brookpaw decided to host a nice sparring session for her clanmates in Beech Copse. It would help them sharpen their skills and learn new moves as well. It also had the benefit of taking everyone's minds off of any previous issues. It would be a time of bonding and just plain fun.

❒ She had announced it the day prior—having presented her idea to Perchstar and Poppyshine first of course—and it was to take place in the morning after everyone was awake. She had gathered a group by the camp entrance and then led them to the rendezvous location. She had expressed that anyone else that also wanted to participate but could not travel with the group could just arrive there later once they were available.

❒ Brookpaw turned to address her clanmates after having led them to Beech Copse. "Alright, we're here! Let's get this started, shall we?" She grinned before speaking up once more, "As you know, there's been a lot that has happened these past few days. To help distract us from it all, I decided to have a nice sparring day for the whole clan. Perchstar and Poppyshine approved just so ya know. Anyway, I'm not forcin' anyone to participate. It's mainly a sparrin' day but you can also use this time to get to know everyone else bettah. You can sit things out an' just watch if that's how ya roll. You can even learn a few new things if ya pay attention."

❒ Shrugging, the apprentice stepped back a few paces and nodded. "So, how this will work is that we'll make groups of two—like warriors pared with each other and apprentices with other apprentices or even warriors with apprentices, stuff like that—and we'll all spar until either one surrenders, gets pinned or stunned and cannot recover fast enough, or gets so tired that they cannot continue at all. Remembah that this is all for fun and learnin' so please don't severely injure anyone and you can't kill anyone, duh. Don't get mad if ya lose your match. Take your loss gracefully and all that. This is mainly to help ya strengthen your skills and help ya see what your weaknesses are. You can ask some of the older members about what you can do to improve. They can even teach ya a few neat tricks."

❒ Brookpaw signaled to everyone to disperse. "Please find a suitable partner or find a safe place to sit. We can all begin as soon as someone teams up with ya. No need to wait," Brookpaw finished. She stepped away to give everyone else space and eyed her clanmates to see if anyone wanted to spar against her.
