Yet another of Beechfang’s kits was ready to receive her warrior name. Due time had passed, and she’d excelled in her training. Just as promised, it was time for her to earn her name. Leaping onto the branch, Briarthorn is wasted no time and immediately announced, ”All cats old enough to climb a tree, gather beneath the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting!”
Trufflepaw emerged from the apprentice den, finally back there after her long bout of sickness that left her with a hoarse, snarl-like voice. Finally, she would be a warrior. Pushing everything that happened to the side, Trufflepaw weaved her way to the front and sat, waiting. Her eyes shifted to the side. Her siblings better come.
Once the nearly fully recovered apprentice appeared beneath the branch, Briarthorn officially began the ceremony. ”Today, we have gathered to witness the rise of SkyClan’s newest warrior. Trufflepaw, please step forward.” She mewed, watching as the she-cat did so. Her next words were quick to follow. ”I, Briarthorn, call upon our warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Trufflepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?” Briarthorn was nearly holding her breath- if was hard not to notice the similarities between Trufflepaw and her mother, especially when she was younger, and the way that Trufflepaw glared at her in camp. Hopefully, her sense of duty would prevail.
As Trufflepaw stepped forward to hear the cat acting as leader's words, she choked back a cough. Now was not the time to make a fool out of herself and start hacking up a lung in front of the clan. Her eyes met Briarthorn's, and she wished she could like this cat. She wished so deeply, but all she felt was despise for going against Bloodstar's words and kicking her Mother out. But she wanted her name. With a nod, Trufflepaw uttered the words expected of her. "I do." She said loudly for the whole clan to hear, all the while staring into Briarthorn's eyes.
Finally, Briarthorn breathed when Trufflepaw responded affirmatively. Briarthorn didn’t entirely doubt that she would, but there was a small voice in the back of her head telling her to remain wary. Regardless, though, this was a happy occasion, and Briarthorn was going to celebrate it as such. ”Then I grant you your warrior name. From this day onward, you shall be known to all as Trufflesnap. SkyClan honors your fierce tongue and claws. Congratulations, Trufflesnap.” Briarthorn leaped from the branch and personally congratulated the newly named warrior, before backing away to allow her friends and family, as well as the rest fot eh Clan, to celebrate with her.
"Trufflesnap!" Wolfblossom had been thrilled when Briarthorn had called her sister forward. She'd spent long enough in the medicine den and was on the mend at last, though the rasping harshness of Trufflesnap's voice still worried her a little. With the ceremony concluded, Wolfblossom trotted forward, tail sweeping over Trufflesnap's back. "Congratulations, sister," She purred.
Trufflesnap. Fogpaw didn’t make the move to yell and howl, jump up and down like the others, but instead stay sitting still towards the back of the crowd, quiet but warm as he smiles approvingly at his sister. He watched her fight for her life for moons, helped the best he could, feared she would die and leave him day after day, but now..
All Fogpaw could do was smile. He was so proud of her. He followed Wolfblossom’s quick approach towards Trufflesnap, moving to but his head against hers. ”Congratulations, little fighter. I knew you would do it— Starclan was just biding its time.”
