It was late afternoon. Everyone else was passed out asleep. Swiftheart however could not sleep she was too nervous about her litter that she knew would be here very soon. She had not been sleeping well in general out of both nerves and excitment for it.


She paced resslessly back and forth in the camp clearing unable to fall back asleep. She did this awhile it felt like before sitting back down tired.


Her vision went weird for a second, blurring around the edges... Huh that was odd... and then suddenly! A sharp pain like a dagger ripped at her starting from her belly. it was so sharp and sudden that she kneeled over .

Ohh this was it... she squeezed her eyes shut this hurt alot.


"BAAAAAAASSSSILLLLLLBLOOOOOMMM!!! FUZZZZYYYYYYY" she screamed at the top of her lungs in pain. Her sister was probably sound asleep right now and Fuzzy too probably. The whole clan probably got woken up by that but that was the last concern on her mind right then.

She panted heavily dragging herself to the nursery at least so it would be easier for Basilbloom and Fuzzypaw to get set up. Laying on her side she panted and hoped that they would come quickly.

Fuzzypaw snored with his tongue out. After the Gathering, he had taken some hits from the hail, and he was still nursing some of the bruises. The fluffy brown tom licked his lips and flicked his tail, curling into a small ball.

“ BAAAAAAASSSSILLLLLLBLOOOOOMMM!!! FUZZZZYYYYYYY”

The tom jolted awake, as if electrocuted. He groaned, disoriented for a fraction of a second. He opened his fern green eyes as he saw his father sprint to the nursery. Swiftheart!

The tom scooped some raspberry leaves, borage leaves, a stick, and cobwebs and sprinted out of the medicine den.

The tom approached the queen, placing the herbs next to him. He walked to the queen and meowed, “Chew these, don’t swallow them, they help with the pain.”

Even though his ribs felt like they were hit by a Twoleg monster, he was briefly thankful he got to watch how other medicine cats handled a kitting. Not that he wanted to learn that at a Gathering being pelted with hail, but he had no control over that…

Fuzzypaw chirped, “You’re doing great!”

“When you’re done chewing, spit them out. I’m going to give you a stick to bite down. You got this!”

Snowfoot was sleeping on the other side of the nursery when she heard Swiftheart cry out, jolting her awake. She gave Swiftheart a look, hoping to convey her love and support, then herded her kits outside to answer their questions in fairly friendly terms rather than them just seeing the whole thing.

Swiftheart watched as everyone gathered around her... she felt so sorry for that skyclan queen who had to do this mid gathering with every clan looking at them. It was weird enough having just her close friends here. She still was very grateful for their support however.

Taking the herbs as Fuzzypaw had instructed and spitting them out. She bit down on the stick hard.

It was a good thing she had a stick because it hurt alot and she was temptated to use language she usually would not have due to the pain.


Her vision got more and more foggy around the corners until it went to all black as she passed out for a little bit

When she awoke she heard the soft meows of little kits and her ears perked up excited. Looking down at her kits she purred softly crying a little out of happyness. They were all beautiful and she pulled them close to her with her tail to keep them warm as possible.

A small, lanky silver tortoiseshell lay quietly, just under her mother's soft white fur. Tiny paws pressed against her tiny face, though her longer muzzle poked out a little. She was sleeping, calmer than her siblings. She seemed so focused, even as a little newborn kit.

Ashenkit rolled over, letting out a great big yawn, and splaying their long legs behind them. They were a strong, physically active kit, even so young as to have just appeared in the world. The silver bengal kit eventually curled up by their mother, seeking warmth in her fur.

the small tom, barely larger than a mouse, nuzzled his mother's warm belly. he had almost black fur, but was in fact a tabby. He would grow to look almost identical to his father. but he hardly realized that his father was dead, or aware of the cats around him.

Swiftheart purred happily as all the kits snuggled together. She had been thinking of names and was ready to share with her clanmates what all of them would go by.

In honor of my mother, this is Murkykit she pointed to the little silver kitten.

Second was a small black kit that looked so happy and content. "Frogkit" she decided on

"Ashenkit" she grinned pointing to the strong silver kitten

"Crowkit for the grey one" she decided

Looking at the last one she immediately was reminded of Ratrunner. "Willowkit" she meowed softly.

She held them all close so happy to have been so blessed. She would do her absolute best to ensure the happiest lives for all her kits.
