Whatever rules and Clan politics had been ingrained in him since birth were shaken off for the moment as Dayquill neared Sunningrocks. He'd circled around the little tract of land more than once, eyeing the river and envying RiverClan's hold of the territory. Just for a few moments, just long enough to stretch his legs, he could get away with it... as the golden tom neared the stones, he wavered. His hackles bristled, like he expected a RiverClan patrol to come bursting from the reeds the heartbeat he touched their territory. But as he drew closer, jaws parted to pull in a breath, he realized the scent of any passing patrols was stale at best. It must have been their dawn patrol, that passed through last. With a sigh of relief, Dayquill neared the river's edge finding a nice place to stretch out across the sun-warmed rocks where the water's cooling spray just touched the tips of his fur. Just a little while, I won't stay long. They won't even notice. With a contented sigh, he lowered his head and closed his eyes.

Fish were plentiful near the Sunningrocks. Ever since he was an apprentice, Owlshriek always got the best of catches while spending time here. It was simply a bonus that the warm rocks were a great place to relax and destress. But, as a scent hit his nose, Owlshriek's gaze narrowed. It seemed there would be no relaxing and destressing today. Some mousebrain decided to cross the border and use RiverClan land. Crouching on a large flat rock, the RiverClan warrior stalked forward. "I'll give you two seconds to leave RiverClan land before I make you into a meal for a badger." The tom growled, yellow eyes glinting with fury. The sheer audacity this cat needed to have!

"One." He took a step forward, ears flat against his head.

"Two." And he leaped.

The dark warrior's presence had been lost on Dayquill, his thoughts far and fleeting until an unfamiliar voice rose up. The pale tom startled, and RiverClan's scent hit him all at once; it hadn't just been the smell of churning water. Before he could get himself into a position to strike first or run away, the RiverClaner sprang forward, claws outstretched, bowling Dayquill into the earth. "Get off of me, fishbreath! I'm barely trespassing!" He hissed, hind paws kicking against Owlshriek's belly. His claws caught against soft flesh, and with a huff, he kicked through with all the force he could manage.

Dayquill used Belly Rake, dealing 15 damage and costing 25 SP.

Owlshriek let out a hiss of pain as his soft belly earned heavy gashes. He couldn't wait to explain to Dovesight how he got the wounds. Not to mention that he might be forced to stay in camp while he healed. But, it was all worth it to protect their borders. Just because the Dark Forest was gone, it didn't mean they weren't tightening their borders. But, most of the time, cats didn't have the audacity to lounge about on their land. So he didn't have to fight often. To say he was an experienced fighter would be generous, but he certainly wasn't an apprentice. With a deep growl, Owlshriek lurched to the side, diving after Dayquill's tail and pulling hard. It was one of the first moves he learned, and the most reliable.

After pulling the tail, the warrior heaved into the tom's side, pushing him towards the ThunderClan and RiverClan border. Growling into the tom's ear; "Go home, kit."

Owlshriek used Tail Yank on Dayquill, dealing 8 damage and using 15 stamina. Additionally, Dayquill takes 3 extra damage from Jump Strike that Splotch missed. Fool.

The dark tom slipped away from him, shuffling away from his claws and allowing Dayquill just enough time to roll onto his paws. He was pleased that he'd drawn even a little bit of blood, had forced the RiverClanner to back off for a heartbeat. Even if he was a warrior, he couldn't say he'd raised his claws against another cat before. Maybe a predator here and there, and of course he was well-versed in simple sparring... but this cat wanted to hurt him. I mean, I guess I earned it. The thought came bitterly, and his tail lashed against it- which made an easy opening. The other tom dove forward, sharp fangs sinking past the downy fur of his tail to pierce the thin skin there. Pain shot through his spine and, still reeling, he put up little resistance when he was shoved back closer to his own territory.

The golden's tom lip curled, and the RiverClanner leaned in close to his face. Still dizzy from the unexpected jolt of pain, he didn't have the nerve to retaliate; instead, he just hissed, hoping spitting in Owlshriek's face was enough to earn him a second to turn the fight around.

Dayquill is stunned for this turn.

"Well? Go on." He insisted, voice low. Owlshriek didn't want to kill the other tom, but he certainly would not hesitate to drive the ThunderClanner out of their territory. "You were in the wrong being in our territory. Leave." He ducked down and used his chance to attempt a similar attack that Dayquill used against him. Using the momentum against him, Owlshriek dove under, trying to dig his claws into the other warrior. Maybe it would at least scare him off...!

Owlshriek muttered some insistence at him, and Dayquill nearly buckled, his legs threatening to betray him and carry him back into the heart of his own territory. But he was in the fight now, and even if he was losing, he wanted to prove something. "I'm not-" He started, but whatever retort he had died on his tongue when the dark tom lunged toward him. He ducked below, and claws raked through the soft flesh of his belly; it took all Dayquill had not to screech at him for it. He could feel hot blood sticking to his fur, and the pain was nauseating. "It's a pile of rocks. I'm enjoying the sun, not stealing prey," he rasped, gasping hard despite himself. He wanted to at least give the RiverClanner a few decent scratches before he got run off, so he half-stepped, half-collapsed out of the way of Owlshriek's claws, and returned with teeth and claws, sinking his fangs into the tom's scruff and letting his claws catch on every hair of his body he could reach.

"Doesn't matter." Owlshriek growled, ears flattening out as he was peppered with desperate attacks from the other warrior. Why was it so hard to admit you were in the wrong and leave? Owlshriek wouldn't have chased him-- A particular bite on his scruff sent fury up his spine, breaking away, the tom backed off for a second, tail fluffed out in anger.

"If we let cats just wander onto our territory, who knows what they would want to do next? Keeping borders strict will keep our clan safe. You would do well to remember that. Go home."

Owlshriek isn't attacking, he is sparing Dayquill's health.

Owlshriek broke away from his biting fangs, and Dayquill staggered a little away from the warrior. It was looking less and less like he actually had anything to prove- this wasn't a fight he was going to win. The RiverClanner had even stopped fighting, allowing him the chance to flee. Embarrassment burned through the golden warrior's pelt, and his tail lashed. The last thing he wanted was to run, but the wounds Owlshriek had given him were starting to sting. "Whatever." He snorted, sounding like a scolded kit more than the warrior he was. "Enjoy your rocks," Dayquill spat and, grudgingly, turned and bounded away. The movement aggravated the scratches he'd received, and as he disappeared into the foliage, he staggered and nearly lost his balance- and then he was gone. Silently, he promised himself to return. And to not get my tail nearly torn off.

Dayquill used Disengage. He has fled the battle.
