What are the duties of a medicine cat? : To heal and care for their injured Clanmates, and to also be a spiritual advisor (to varying degrees). They have many duties: to gather herbs, store them, and care for any who need care; they accompany apprentices and their leader to the moonstone. (They also follow a different code than warriors, and live as healers and advisors, separate from any conflict and bound to heal any who need their help — even if their primary focus in their Clan.)

Holly has always been a resilient, positive spirit — and also a little gullible and guileless. An eager fighter and full of bluster. She rushes into things she can’t win and never lets go. (I think she has lost every fight she’s ever been in and she still insists on leaping in.) Protective and yet also rly, in her heart, wanting to be more like her family and afraid she won’t be — like Aunt Ashstorm, her grandpa Bloodstar, her sister and brother.
(And also her Aunt Beechfang, who she is convinced was mauled by a bear and is eternally seeking revenge. I.e., why she resigned being MC and became a warrior
)
Comes to conclusions very easily and is also easily duped, but she means well. And wants to be the best.
And normally this girl would never be MC. (Why would she? She’s gonna be the Best Warrior Ever and hunt bears obvs.) Her brother is meddie and even as a kit that was never for her. She also had a huge crush on this RC molly who she accidentally tried to maul XD, and was slotted for a clueless FR… (since then Hollyleaf has since passed, RIP.
so that will not be happening. But still, her falling in love was <3)
But I was thinking about it as I was writing her today and weirdly enough I could *see* it??
Holly is in a tired, hurting place rn. Just coming out of this sitewide, she is very fragile. Pre-Morningstar, she was sent on a mission by Bloodstar to follow one of Dawnhawk’s kits and find the Forgotton Order’s camp— which she was so enthusiastic about! During this, however, she was taken captive… she was starved to be kept weak, surrounded by cats she didn’t know and by her Murder-Uncle who was keeping her so he could kill her in front of her mom/grandpa
Then —> to the sitewide, she came back to camp with Morningstar/Murder-Uncle who totally went crazy. @-@ She was about to see her family and fight to be free, and then realized they were all captives and her grandpa was dead. So lots of stuff…. She came back emaciated and hurting, weak and emotionally trying to make everything ok. The whole sitewide was a continuation of being a captive: Holly being frightened and stressed and feeling like maybe she’s not as strong as she thought she was. (That her family wasn’t as strong and undefeatable as she thought they were.) As she
wanted them to be…
Even after, everything feels exhausting to her. She wants things to be as they were but they can’t ever be.
Part of this is she staked a lot on being a good fighter, a good warrior. And now she’s split open and raw and beaten.
SO: now how I see it going Holly doesn’t think about these things. (In her mind, she’d never be anything but a warrior.) What I see is her wanting to be near her brother (Muddythorn).
Very tactile, and bonded with her family. She is generally the baby of her siblings, and would curl next to him. (Not wanting to be alone.) She would just… be near him.

I see her as more trying to find what feels like home again. And in doing so helping Muddy… until it doesn’t make sense for her to do anything else.
Holly would be an eager apprentice and also er, kinda clumsy. Her life is a comedy of errors. XD She is gonna screw up so much (but she’s gonna mean so well)! Giving the wrong herbs and um, maybe getting lost on the way to Highstones… bringing back terrible things and everything slipping her mind. But I see her bedside manner being surprisingly good, and she is at heart really soft and compassionate. And she loves her family.
She would play-fight with apprentices and try and teach them to take care of themselves… and probably still want to join in on Pred hunts, *really* to watch the excitement and maybe join in but ostensibly to be there in case something goes wrong.
I really love the idea of her healing in this way, because at heart for her it’s never been about fighting: it’s being good enough. And I see her falling in love with it too.
Why do you think you deserve this position? : I am active
and think everyone would have a lot of fun with Holly as a MC too. She would be so flustered about everything at first xD
