Crowpaw's Hunting Training

Batsong awoke in the warriors den with a yawn and stretch. She got up excited and walked out. Today was the first day of training for her daughter and apprentice Crowpaw.

She walked over to the apprentice den to check on her and see if she was ready to go.

"Crowpaw?" she called for her daughter.

"Come I will show you h-how to h-hunt" she stuttered slightly as she led her out of the camp into the windclan territory.

Getting to a nice open area she stopped next to her young apprentice and explained to her the hunting crouch and stalking technique.

"S-so, when you see or smell prey you have to creep up on it t-to get close then you pounce and catch it" she explained.

She demonstrated as she talked as well so that Crowpaw could see an example at the same time.

She kept her tail low and body moving just over the ground as she pretended to sneak up on something.

Smiling over at Crowpaw she purred "you t-try" she encouraged.

"you can also s-smell the air for any hares or rabbits nearby"

Crowpaw jumped around. "I'm all ready!" She mused, walking up to her mother. "Are we ready? what first?"

Batsong purred and happily looked at all the energy her daughter had. "here, you try to hunt now" she encouraged her apprentice with a big smile.

She loved getting to train with Crowpaw

Crowpaw stalked up to a rabbit she had scented. She got lower to the ground, and when she got close enough, she darted for it. She panted as she chased the rabbit. She finally caught up to it and made the kill. "Mama! I did it!" She purred, jumping up and down.

Batsong watched her daughter and apprentice stalk up on a rabbit. She stayed really quiet so she wouldnt disrupt at all. She held her breath as Crowpaw chased after it and then caught it!

She purred super happy and jumped up and down excited "Yes!!! Yess!!!" she cheered for her. Her daughters first catch and she got to watch it! She was so happy and joyful.

"Excellent job Crowpaw!" she purred so proud of her.


She nuzzled her happily and full of pride and joy. "You made that look so easy you are a true natural" she encouraged her.

She nodded and sat up straight, closing her eyes and holding her chin high. "That's right!" She said, setting the prey respectfully at her mother's paws.

Batsong smiled widely and purred proud of her daughter.

She saw another rabbit nearby and stalked towards it wanting to get one as well.

She crept closer and closer until she was within striking range and jumped at it!

She caught it too and she smiled happily holding it up. They would have lots of food now "We m-make a great team" she purred excited

"Yeah!"Crowpaw smiled. "Here, i'll do it again!" She crouched, and she stepped on a twig accidentaly and let the rabbit escape. "Aw.. Sorry, Batsong.. I missed that one.." She said, ears drooping.
