Midnight at the Lost and Found

Murkystar was walking aimlessly through the marshes of ShadowClan's territory, meandering around the deepest parts and enjoying the sounds of night. Frogs croaked nearby, filling the air with their music, and as the moon rose high in the starless sky the leader found herself in a clearing. Staring up at the moon, shining bright against it's empty backdrop, she sighed and wrapped her tail around her paws. Were the stars really gone forever? What would happen to the clans without their guidance? What would happen if she died? Had her son found StarClan? She could have sworn she had seen him the other night, and again tonight, as if his spirit was lingering in the camp and territory he had wandered in life. That was silly, though... She was just too tired. That's all. She bowed her head, silently praying that her words would reach StarClan, that they would return and help them. Just then, a faint sound reached her ears. Her head lifted slightly, ears trying to pinpoint the sound. Once they figured out which direction the sound originated from, she stood and started to approach it on silent paws, eyes focusing on where she could hear the noise.

Blossom mewled. She mewled and mewled. She was too young to open her eyes, but she couldn't understand where she was. She mewled for help, anybody? was anyone there?

The soft mewling grew louder and louder as Murkystar drew closer, and as she neared the source of the sound her eyes landed on a small kit. Murkystar gasped as she looked down at the tiny thing, so helpless... She hadn't even opened her eyes. What cat would abandon such a young kit? The pale kitten fluff that surrounded her wasn't enough to keep her warm, and Murkystar stepped closer as her eyes glanced around. There were no signs of parents, other than an old scent that seemed like it didn't linger long. It appeared whomever had left the small she-kit wouldn't be returning. Lowering her nose to the kit, she gently nudged her, rasping a tongue along the top of her head soothingly. "Hush dear, someone is here. I will help you, don't cry anymore." Murkystar mewed softly, picking up the small kit by the scruff and turning towards the camp. She would have to send a patrol to attempt to find the kit's parents, but first she needed to get her settled in the nursery.

She smiled at the nearing of the she-cat. She mewled softly, stumbling for the she-cat... She mewled again.
