Wrenkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Frostgaze slowly made his way to the Jaggedrock, leaping up onto it after a moment of hesitation. He could not quite bring his mind away from his injured mate, and it was distracting him from his duties. Nonetheless, he refused to push his responsibilities onto Murkystar, not when she had to lead a clan through these tough times. "All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" At least time still moved forward, for there would be another apprentice this night.

Deerleap padded into the clearing and settled down close to the Jaggedrock. what was it now? her curious amber eyes searched Frostgaze's for an answer.

Wrenkit had been playing with a mossball by herself when she heard Frostgaze announce a clan meeting. She knew her apprentice ceremony was coming up, but Wrenkit wasn’t sure when. Maybe this was it? Wrenkit walked out of the nursery and headed towards the Jaggedrock, where a few cats had started to gather.

By the time she was there, her mind was clouded with thoughts. The main one being that this could be her apprentice ceremony. She really hoped that it was. The nursery was lovely, but she would love to get out of camp. The she-kit was obviously excited. So excited, even, that she couldn’t sit down.

Frostgaze swept his tail across the cold stone of the rock as the clan gathered beneath him, a familiar thing to him now, one he thought he would never truly get used to. Nevertheless, refusing to be stolen away by his own thoughts, Frostgaze began the ceremony. "Shadowclan! I have gathered you here to witness the naming of a new apprentice. Wrenkit, step forward." Frostgaze allowed for Wrenkit to approach before continuing. "Wrenkit, you have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day forward, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Wrenpaw. Deerleap will be your mentor. I trust that she will pass down her loyalty and steadfast heart to you." With a nod to Deerleap, he leaped down from the Jaggedrock with a thud.

Deerleap blinked in surprise and delight. did she hear it right? She was a mentor now? purring, the she-cat padded up to greet Wrenpaw. "Congratulations! we're taking a tour around the territory, then you can get some rest before hunting training tonight," she planned out the rest of the day on the spot.

The newly named apprentice smiled at Deerleap, her new mentor. ”Okay!” Wrenpaw exclaimed, a small purr in her throat. She then added, ”I’m looking forward to it.”

Snowfoot limped over to Deerleap and Wrenpaw. “Congratulations, you two! Wrenpaw, good luck keeping this crazy in line,” she joked.

"hey!" Deerleap gasped at Snowfoot's comment, though she was glad that her friend was getting better.
