Jaystars words made him freeze up, a chaotic swirl of emotions filling him as the older tomcat very clearly stated Starclan was no more. First the fright of realizing those he had lost in life were now beyond his reach in death and then... confusion, as logic rapidly took a hold of his conscious. Gone? That sounded... wrong. They couldn't be gone they were already dead, and there had been nights where the stars and moon had disappeared before, stormy nights with rain held no stars or moon in the sky.
So obviously it was possible for the stars to be temporarily shrouded, right? So why had their leader made it sound like they were gone forever, it seemed... dramatic, exaggerated. Though, he supposed being unable to contact them for a long, long time would be worth the exaggeration, but that didn't mean they were trapped in this hazy darkness
forever... could they?
No... no it didn't make sense. He needed to know
how,
why they were gone, without
proof beyond this little fancy act of the stars 'suddenly disappearing' or he was going to take his leader's words with a hefty dose of salt. Still...
He examined the disturbing felines now in their midst with a wary eye as his previous apprehensions slowly abated as he learned who and what they were. The Dark Forest, a place where dead 'evil' cats went... so that meant these cats couldn't be killed or fought off.
Looking back up as his leader, he could grasp the tom's reasoning for not opposing them, was it really worth the death of their clan just to fight them off for 'honour' and 'valour'? Greynose had never put any stock in such things anyway, far too much effort, sure he wasn't immoral but he also wasn't a deluded mouse-brain.
Still, his words, his emphasis. Why did the tom have to dance around what he really meant? It would just sew more confusion if you don't get the truth done and over with and just let the clan adjust to their new harsh reality. He doubted these cats would be assisting them out of the 'goodness of their poor dead hearts'.
Quirking a brow, the new warrior falling back into his usual apathy as most of the unknowns were brought to light, he called out, not caring enough to really be scared about breaking the silence.
"So, what you're saying here, is that were basically prisoners now.... and unless we all want to just, all casually die, I guess, we should just adapt and get on with what we can scavenge of our lives?"His words were decently loud enough to be heard by his clanmates, but his voice was dry, and apathetic. Instead of being scared of this new reality, he seemed to just want to confirm what exactly that reality was. He just wanted the blunt truth, not flowery words and fake attempts to keep up the appearance of 'strong, brave Riverclan'. Such things were exhausting, and he shouldn't've had to waste his time trying to piece together the situation Jaystar was laying out for them because of them. He doubted the 'evil' dark forest cats would really care if they just outwardly admitted that they did
not have the upper paw in this situation.
Honestly, dancing around it all was far too troublesome, he was tired enough without having to follow whatever social conduct they were all presenting.
