Swiftheart awoke as the sun was setting. She was in her usual happy good mood as she thought about getting to go out and explore the territory, lately she and Ratrunner were much closer as friends and she was in a really good mood even more than usual because of this fact... Stretching out she walked out of the warriors den being careful not to disrupt any of her clanmates still sleeping. She felt full of excitement to start the ...night (day for them?).
She sat down giving herself a very quick grooming to straighten up a bit but not taking too long. With a grin she glanced around the camp clearing to see if anyone was already awake and wanted to join her on a hunt.
"I'm going hunting if anyone wants to join" she openly asked.

Icepaw lifted her head from where she was resting in the apprentice den. She quickly trotted out into the camp and approached Swiftheart with lightness in her step. It was nice being able to get out of the camp now that she was an apprentice. It had been a little while since she’d spoke with Swiftheart as well, so this would be a good opportunity to work with her.
“I’d love to join you for a hunt,” she said with a respectful bow to the warrior.

OOC: Ok this topic is gonna be lax posting style. Meaning that you do NOT have to post in order of how you came in. I think this will help cause everyone has different schedules so you can post whenever you are around. It might also allow for more quick back and forth interactions to help yall get to know each others characters better idk so we are gonna try it out. Also if anyone wants to join in feel free this is wide open as far as who all can join... obviously you would have to be shadowclan tho unless you want to invade... and awayyy we go :)

Swiftheart nodded seeing everyone come up. She was happy so many of her clanmates were willing to come join her and she smiled to everyone. Icepaw was very formal and polite and Swiftheart nodded, she would have to be sure to mind her formals around Icepaw. Swiftheart was always super nice and kind but she did not necessary have all the formalities, she was a bit more casual.
A bubbly feeling rose in her and she let out a purr seeing everyone gather around ready to catch some food. Snowpaw was next to join and she nodded at her question "happy you could join!" she said with enthusiastic kit level energy. She wanted snowpaw to feel welcomed and she had always wanted to act as an older sister for her ever since Snowpaw had lost her mother, she wished that Snowpaw would see that. She felt it too awkward to say directly but in a certain way she felt responsible for Snowpaw and so seeing her want to join made her happy.
Deerleap was next and she nodded with respect to her former apprentice who had grown and learned so much.
While Swiftheart was the oldest warrior here she wanted to give the younger ones in the clan a chance to begin trying out leadership roles as far as taking charge of things even if for now it was just a small hunting patrol, Shadowclan would need future leadership skills if it were to survive and although leadership was not as tangible a skill as hunting or fighting per say it was still important for them to try out. If they did not like it that was okay, she didn't really care for leading stuff either and she personally would never want to be leader or deputy. It was more so she wanted to get them at least comfortable with it. If in a crisis situation they could act and lead their clanmates out of danger she hoped. Deerleap had already shown good leadership so far and she wanted to encourage and build off that skill to push her in that direction, assuming she wanted that. Icepaw and Snowpaw she was less familiar with but this would be a good first indicator, they were also the youngest here so she would start by giving lead to Deerleap but would watch how they interacted with it.
With this idea in mind she began with,
"im glad you all decided to join, this hunting trip will be a bit different from others in that the leader of the patrol will not be the eldest warrior ... me... as is the standard. I want to have one of you lead this. Its good practice and I want it to get you out of your comfort zone/shells"
She glanced at them all quickly trying to read initial takes on her idea.
Turning to her former apprentice (Deerleap) she nodded. "Start us out" she instructed. and with that she fell in line with the rest for Deerleap to take lead of the patrol. "Deerleap will be lead the patrol but Icepaw and Snowpaw I want you to get chances too"
OOC: lol ok maybe having "official" leads of patrols is a little goofy but I think they had it in the books... idk I dont remember been too long,
but I thought it could spice up the topic a little to keep it interesting and not just a standard hunt, you can have any interactions you want with this... for instance will Icepaw and Snowpaw be jealous of this or will they want to be next up and try it...you can get creative I guess with whatever.. will Deerleap be nervous with this or not... ect ect ect... I'm trying to keep the muse alive XD. Have fun with it I look forward to seeing how this plays out.

Snowpaw’s mind started racing. “Helping lead? Wow, didn’t see that coming! What if I mess up? Oh well, it’s just Swiftheart, Deerleap, and Icepaw. She-cats’ night out!” Many different trains of thought ran through her mind but she shook it off. “All right, Deerleap! Where are we headed?” she mewed.

“Pine grove,” deerleap muttered out the first thing that came to her mind. Leading a patrol? Was Swiftheart losing her mind? Deerleap flicked her tail nervously and headed for the entrance. At least she wouldn’t have to lead the whole way.

Icepaw was rather excited to get out and join a hunting patrol. She hadn’t gotten much practice yet, so this was the perfect opportunity. The chance to lead…Icepaw couldn’t say that it didn’t excite her, though hunting itself wasn’t too interesting. She also didn’t know what she was doing, and she hoped that she could pick up the basics from Deerleap who led the way.
She followed close to the group as they headed toward the pine grove. Icepaw tried to silently remember her training as they walked. She kept her ears turned out to hear everything she could and was sure to pay attention to smells as they went. The harsh leafbare season was still clinging to the forest and she hoped that they wouldn’t have too much trouble while they were out and about.

Swiftheart followed along with the patrol, Snowpaw and Icepaw both seemed excited to get to try this out and while Deerleap looked a little nervous, Swiftheart was confident that she would do well with this and she always had her former apprentices back as well. She walked as silently as she could so as not to scare away any potential food source. She looked from side to side trying to spot any movements in the undergrowth of the expansive pine grove forest. Sniffing the ice cold air she for now could only smell the strong scent of pine that lingered in the air and unfortunately she could smell no prey nearby. Not giving up she continued onwards with her clanmates.

Snowpaw took in the scents on the air as they approached the grove. No clear prey-scents yet, but she could tell there was prey in the area. Her whiskers twitched in anticipation.

as the grove came into view, Deerleap stopped in her tracks. "The days are getting warmer everyday, and there's a bit more prey running around now. Snowpaw, you can go and hunt with Swiftheart in pairs, or alone if that's what you prefer, but stay close to her in case a predator attacks. Icepaw, you're with me!" She quickly said whatever came to her mind, before whisking around and heading for a bramble thicket. small rustling noises could be heard from behind it.
dropping into a crouch, she slithered around so that she could see whatever was behind the thicket. her nose was still too cold to scent anything. too late, she realized it was far too big to be a prey. it's beady eyes turned to face her. gathering her thoughts, Deerleap sprang forward and batted at the racoon's muzzle. "Go for it's hindlegs and we can confuse it and scare it away!" she ordered Icepaw.
Deerleap used Jumping Strike, dealing 8 (+3+1)dmg and -7 SP

Swiftheart gave a nod and went with Snowpaw to go out in pairs to try and find any prey nearby. She had been trying to get closer to Snowpaw, espeically with the loss of the young apprentices mother. she wanted to be there for her best she could. She sniffed the air hoping to find anything of value nearby.
To her luck and amazement, there was a rodent nearby and blinking a couple of times she crouched towards it until within striking distance. She then did her best to leap right at it!
(wow we have bad dice luck )
To her utmost unluck a second raccoon had been hidden in a bush nearby the rodent and she had stumbled right into it. At the same time she heard a distance away Deerleap getting into a fight with the first raccoon... The two of them must have been a family or something.
The raccoon was not to happy to be disturbed from its nap by the white molly and slashed out at her with claws.
Raccoon 2 used Quick Swipe for 8 dmg 10 sp
Swiftheart quickly hit back at the agressor trading blow for blow
Swiftheart used Jumping strike 8+(3) +1 for night time and cost 7 sp but hunting roll also cost 7 sp for 14 total
Swiftheart turned to Snowpaw her hunting partner, "Be careful, but you can try and go for its legs while its focused on me"
Swiftheart: 42 / 50 hp (-8) 106 / 120 (-14)
Raccoon 2: 8 / 20 hp (-12) 110 / 120 sp (-10)

Icepaw stuck close with Deerleap after her instructions. She opened her mouth, trying to scent, but the harsh cold only dried out her mouth and kept her from smelling much. It looked like Deerleap was having a similar problem, which was at least comforting that neither were alone in how difficult it was to search around.
The sudden attack startled her, though, and her fur fluffed. She watched Deerleap rush into a thicket and when she pushed her way through, she immediately understood at the sight of the racoon. Deerleap was impressive, having already gotten some deep claws into the predator. But Icepaw didn’t simply stay there admiring her work. She gave a nod to Deerleap’s command. Before the raccoon could try and attack either of them, she leapt the raccoon's rear, but she went for the tail rather than the legs. Icepaw bit down on its tail and yanked hard. The raccoon squealed before Deerleap’s deep slashes finally took it down.
Icepaw used Tail Yank, dealing 8 damage (7 + 1) and costing 15 SP.

Racoon 1 0/20 HP (-8) [DEAD] 120/120 SP
Icepaw breathed heavily when the creature went still and she released its tail from her jaw. She looked to Deerleap and gave an approving nod. “That was good. Very quick thinking,” she said. Her jaw tingled a bit. She had drawn only a little blood from the raccoon and it didn’t taste as good as their typical prey. The racoon could still be brought back for good meat, though, so this wasn’t a waste. She turned to see if she could find any additional prey, as their hunting trip had barely begun.
She sniffed around for a bit and stilled as a new scent caught her attention. Her mouth watered at the scent: rabbit. Rabbits were quite rare around ShadowClan, and Icepaw had never actually tasted it herself. They were often given to the elders because of how rare they were. She wanted to catch one so badly, and if one had unfortunately wandered towards the cats, then she wanted to be the one to grab it.
She carefully crept along the ground, her tail pointed straight up. She followed under some brush until she spotted the rabbit. Icepaw made sure to remain downwind as she approached. The moment the rabbit’s ears turned back, noticing her, Icepaw sprang. She collided with the rabbit and made quick work of its neck.
Icepaw remained lying there for a moment, unbelieving in her luck. Her first real hunting trip and she had caught a rabbit of all things? There was a strong excitement thrumming in her veins at the thought of taking this back, presenting it to the kill pile, or even delivering it straight to the elders. By the time she picked herself back up and returned to Deerleap, she trotted happily with her trophy being dragged between her teeth.
Icepaw used 7 SP to hunt and caught a rabbit!

[OOC: Copper I believe you forgot to also subtract 7 SP for the hunting attempt, so I withdrew that from Deerleap’s stats above, but let me know if I’m incorrect and just missed something :)]
[EDIT: I realized I had misread the battle table so the damage was incorrect, so I edited to change what move I used so the damage was the same; it just used more SP for Ice]
