Scar Tissue [Open]

Batsong slept in the warriors den packed in tight with her clanmates.  The long day had made her particularly tired this night.
Her nose twitched as she began to dream

she looked around and found herself in the medicine den... the smell of sickness was strong and it lay heavy in the air.
A thick fog swirled around her preventing sight for more than a couple tail-lengths around in any given direction.

what was this strangeness? she wondered still unaware it was just a dream.

BATPAW! a voice called out

a familiar voice! That of her mothers. Her heart beat quickened as she moved through the fog trying to find the source of the voice.

Mom! Mom?, Mom Im here! she called out stumbling around in the confusing fog that got thicker and thicker until she could not see forward at all.

batpaw the voice called again but quieter now

Batsong rushed forward trying to find her mother, the smell of sickness getting stronger and stronger as she moved.  Her eyes widened and her jaws dropped as she saw her mother finally, she was currled up in one of the nests shivering just as she had been when batpaw lost her. No No mom dont leave me she moved towards her mother but just before she reached her side, her mother turned into the fog that surrounded her disappearing from sight. nooo .... no she slumped to the ground breathing heavily.

Batsong awoke suddenly a sharp breath entered her lungs as if she had just been punched in the gut. She sat up quickly looking around blinking...

oh... a dream... nothing more. She silently got to her paws not wishing to awaken her clanmates who were all still sleeping as she slipped out of the warriors den.

She looked over to the medicine cat den and she hesitantly approached it. Standing outside briefly taking a deep breath she entered the dark den, it had been mostly abandon with Berrypaw stepping down and Dovefrost leaving (the thunderclan med cat had been around for a while to help out)

She glanced at the nest her mother and father had last been... the pain had never left it had just buried into her.

Tears filled her eyes... you two left me... she said somberly.

She felt incontrollable amounts of grief, she got up to leave. She walked out of the medicine den never wanting to go back there.

Rosekit couldn't get to sleep and peeked her head out of the gorse tangle for a breath of air, eyes glowing bright and orange in the dark, to see Batsong slip into the medicine den and quickly back out, tears glistening in her rescuer's eyes. Rosekit padded softly over, "Batsong, what's wrong?" she mewed. Without waiting for an answer, the kitten curled herself into the warrior's side, purring hard until her whole tiny body vibrated. "Did you have a nightmare? It's okay," she whispered quietly over her thrumming purr. She cuddled Batsong like she wished mama would cuddle her. Batsong had saved her and Rosekit was determined to comfort her.

Batsong was startled at first by the kit but quickly recognizing who it was gave a slight smile through the pain she felt.

h-h... hey Rosekit she purred. Before she knew it Rosekit was cuddled up next to her purring and nuzzling her. Batsongs smile widened as she felt so much better instantly.

yeah, j-j-just a nightmare she stuttered with her usual speech hinderance.

Batsong curled her tail around the kitten holding her close.

She sat quietly for a little then gave the kitten a warm smile ... Th-t... thank you Rosekit she whispered.
