Subject: Lightningpaw's Moonstone Journey Sun 6 Feb 2022 - 18:23
"Lightningpaw, come on!" Swiftspirit's voice was cheerful as she approached the apprentice, setting down a bundle of traveling herbs. "I'm sorry these are awful, I have no idea how to sweeten them but they'll keep you from getting hungry on the way to highstones." She mewed, nudging the bundle towards him, having managed to eat hers before going to find Lightningpaw. The taste was something she'd never get used to, just like filling in for the role of medicine cat in part and taking apprentices to see the moonstone was something she still wasn't used to. Still, Swiftspirit had said she would help, and she meant it. Once Lightningpaw had choked down his portion of the herbs, Swiftspirit turned and led him out of camp.

The sky was dark, the near-full moon slowly rising as the last hint of sunlight faded as the two approached mothermouth. "Alright, the tunnel will be dark, use your whiskers or grab my tail. You won't get lost if you stick close." Swiftspirit said, "When we get to the moonstone, touch your nose to it and lay down. Starclan will visit you in your dreams. I'll wait for you to wake." She added. Once Lightningpaw had confirmed he was ready, Swiftspirit turned, leading him down the increasingly-familiar path. It was dark, as she said, but the faint light as they neared the moonstone helped with her own anxiety, at least. Finally they rounded the last corner, the moonstone shining brightly from the moonlight visible above, and Swiftspirit stepped aside for Lightningpaw. Whatever Starclan had in store for the apprentice, she didn't know, but she would wait and then bring him home in the morning.
