Call it a Demon, Call it a Beast... [Closed]

Bearspirit chased after a small goat. He didn't know if he was even big enough to kill it, truth be told, but it's movements were slow and it's breathing was labored. Had it been born early, in this harsh season? Something about the way it looked reminded him of a kit... sort of. Regardless, he ran it down and tackled it, testing the strength of the other animal while the herd fled. It was surprisingly weak in his claws, and the large marbled tom sunk his teeth into the goat's neck. It would be a heck of a prize to bring back to Riverclan... though his eyes went to the twoleg nest in the distance. He wished the rest of the herd would remain silent. He knew that he could haul this thing off quick enough... as long as the twoleg didn't come out with a gun. The owner of the goat would never know it was a cat that was responsible for his loss, as long as Bearspirit wasn't spotted dragging the goat away.

With the season being as harsh as it was, Aether was becoming desperate. His family needed food, especially after their battle with ShadowClan. While there had been no loss on their side of the battle, thank the stars, they still needed time to recover. And they couldn't do that on empty bellies. So when the smell of blood hit him, Aether was immediately driven to the source, his mouth watering.

Crouching low, he could see a cat dragging what looked like a goat. Now that would surely be a feast for the order! He just needed to swipe it from the tom.

Licking his chops, Aether made his way forward, before making a giant leap at the tom.

Bearspirit had been expecting... well... not this. A rogue cat flew at him with claws and teeth at the ready. Though he caught a nasty blow to the shoulder, he dropped the goat in time to retaliate swiftly. Honestly, he didn't blame the rogue, but now was not the time for pity. His clan needed food too. Bearspirit swiped a thick foreleg under the rogue's legs in an attempt to trip him. Once that happened, he'd finish this battle swiftly.

Aether stumbled slightly, not expecting such a cheap move. And he was a rogue, you would think he knew the extent of cheap moves.

Finding his footing, Aether lunged again, snapping at the tom, hoping to find a grip. This tom clearly had more skill than him, but Aether had the drive. He would do what he could to make sure he was the one triumphant in the end. In his mind, Clan cats were greedy enough as it was. Why couldn't he have this meal? The Order was hungry, he was hungry. This cat was just selfish.

Teeth buried into one of his legs, of which Bearspirit yanked quickly from the rogue's mouth. It left long drag marks from his fangs, but the cut was at least superficial. Bearspirit moved forward again and raised a large, powerful claw. He brought it down ruthlessly onto the rogue. The first attack had been a little test. Now that he was fairly sure of the rogue's capabilities, he was ready to begin to put an end to this.

Aether hissed as claws sliced his cheek, leaving a burning wound in it's wake. The wound was not deep, and he hoped it would not scar, but it did annoy him very much. Why could this cat not just let him take the goat? Didn't these cats have enough food as it was? They really just hated the idea of sharing.

Turning back to face the brutish tom, Aether latched on to his scruff, fastening his teeth. It was not a killing blow, no, this cat was shallow, but he did not deserve death. But perhaps this would convince him to back off.

Bearspirit felt teeth on his scruff and his ears flattened against his head. He didn't panic, knowing options were still open to him. Besides, he had enough strength in his paws to keep the rogue from doing much beyond putting superficial holes in his pelt. He a raised a paw and... started slapping the rogue. Degrading? Absolutely. Bearspirit put salt in the wound by smirking at the rogue too.

Aether held fast to the tom's scruff as he was battered by the marbled cat's paws. He was getting really annoyed at the cat, and he even had the nerve to smirk at him! Well fine, two could play at that game. Aether yanked at the scruff he was holding, biting down even harder. He wanted to flat out spit in the tom's face, but as his mouth was a little preoccupied, he would have to settle for causing as much pain as possible. And maybe toss the tom a smug look of his own while he was at it.

Bearspirit felt the tugging on his scruff. It certainly twinged, one of the muscles in his neck spasming in pain for a moment. Regardless, he responded with nothing more than a haughty chuckle and a toothy grin. He raised his paw again, giving the lone cat another degrading slap to the face.

Aether let out a growl, eventually deciding to let go of the scruff, and spitting out the small strands of fur that had shed with it. Clearly he had to switch up his strategy with this self-righteous cat. Darting forward, Aether snapped at him, before clawing at the tom, trying to find the weakest points available. All of a sudden, the fight wasn't even about the goat anymore. That would just be an added prize. The real victory would be sending this cat with his tail between his legs!

Bearspirit took both hits, a shockwave rolling through his healthy layer of fat stretched over his thick, knotted muscles. He flicked his head as if shaking water from him briefly to clear the ringing in his ears. At that point, he lunged forward for the younger tom's scruff. He too bit down, but his experience told him just biting wasn't effective. If his opponent could still attack, the battle could quickly end badly. He thrashed his head ruthlessly from side to side before releasing, throwing the other cat to the ground. While the younger tom was clearly annoyed... Bearspirit was enjoying the game. His injuries would heal, but once one let their pride be wounded... well that took much longer.

Tossed to the ground, the breath was completely knocked out of Aether, and a ringing in his ears had started as he hit his head. It wasn't hard enough to cause any permanent damage, but Aether was dazed, left panting as he simply laid there, glaring at the hunter before him. There was nothing he could do for the moment, not until he could get his bearings together. For a moment, Aether considered fleeing, but he was not going to give this tom the satisfaction. Not yet. He was toying with him, and he would not stand for that.

Bearspirit could see that he'd executed his attack well. The younger tom was stunned, unable to do anything but be mad about it. The large marbled tom stepped forward and raised a gargantuan claw and brought it down remorselessly over the younger tom's head.
