Ravenclaw was laying in camp with nothing to do. She needed something to get her mind off the usual stuff, so she got up and stretched, deciding to go hunting. Might as well bring someone with her, though. So she went over to Beechfang, standing next to her. "Hey, do you want to go hunting? Might as well put more on the freshkill pile." She didn't mention anything about distractions, but she didn't have to. More than anyone, Beechfang would know of what Ravenclaw was still going through moons and moons after Wrenspring's death.
Beechfang sat near the edge of camp, eye narrowed slightly as she scanned the snow-covered clearing. The expression on her face wasn't a particularly happy one, but it shifted into a genuine smile when Ravenclaw approached her. "Hey," She greeted. Hunting? Ravenclaw didn't need to ask more than once.
"Of course," Beechfang mewed, standing. Ravenclaw didn't say she needed a distraction, but Beechfang knew her sister well enough, and truthfully she could use one too., if for different reasons. She was still reeling from her own apprentice's idiocy and blatant show of disrespect. He'd been demoted, tried to flee camp... And promptly had a heart attack when he'd been caught leaving the nursery. He'd been a disgrace to Skyclan, and an embarrassment to her. If that was how he handled things, the clan was truly better off without Mountainkit in it.
Ravenclaw would never act that way, she was an asset to Skyclan and always would be. Beechfang gave her head a shake, trying to clear it. The sooner they got out into the territory to hunt, the sooner she had something to focus on that wasn't foxdung, the better.
Ravenclaw took the lead, clawing her way up into the nearest tree as soon as they left camp. It was nice to be above everything now. It all looked so much smaller, which made it easier to digest. "So, everything alright?" She didn't want to prod, but she knew how... awkward things had been after Mountainkit's antics. It was embarrassing to watch from beginning to end. She honestly wasn't even sure to bring it up, but it was at least something to talk about. She could at least be vague about it.
A bird fluttered down on a nearby branch: a rarer sight in the harsh weather of the current season. She wouldn't let this opportunity go to waste. She bounded silently across the branches before leaping at the bird. However, something - a snake - got to it first. It swallowed the bird whole, then turned to Ravenclaw, who was already in midair heading right for it. Of course, she already had her claws out, so the snake was in for a rude surprise.
Ravenclaw used Jumping Strike on the Snake, dealing 10+3 damage and costing 7 stamina + 7 for hunting in harsh season.

"I just... Foxdung! Mountainkit was a disgrace! He was awful as a kit, awful to train, and he should've never been considered for a warrior ceremony at all. I've never seen an apprentice with such a lack of respect or manners, and I grew up with Dawnhawk!" Beechfang vented her frustrations with a lash of her tail, "Putting thorns in the elders' nests, mouthing off to warriors... All of the foxing insults... I never thought I'd be miserable training an apprentice, but at least keeping him out of camp kept him out of trouble for the most part. I hope his parents are ashamed at what they raised." She huffed, following Ravenclaw out into the territory. She fell quiet, allowing Ravenclaw to search for prey in the trees while she searched on the ground. After the... incident... at fourtrees, Beechfang hadn't climbed a tree and still wasn't able to bring herself to do so.
A squirrel was soon spotted, and Beechfang crouched, stalking towards it. Only for a slight shift in the wind to bring her scent right to it. She swore as the critter quickly scampered into the trees, well out of her reach, and turned to watch Ravenclaw leap for a bird... And apparently luck just wasn't on their side today, because a snake had also wanted that bird.
Beechfang stared up at her sister and the predator, tail lashing as her ears flattened. She needed to help her sister, she knew that. But her paws didn't want to move. And she really, really didn't want to go into the trees. Not after that.
Not that it mattered what she wanted. She needed to get over herself, she knew that. She was Skyclan, for fox's sake.
With a frustrated hiss, Beechfang forced her paws forward, claws digging into the tree as she hauled herself up to the branch Ravenclaw had landed on. So long spent doing anything but climbing, as well as her continued problems with depth perception (thanks a lot, Starclan), made her climb anything but graceful, and she could hear her own heart pounding as she lashed out at the snake with unsheathed claws.
Her claws missed, and Beechfang hissed in annoyance, gingerly shifting her weight to keep herself balanced. It was a lower branch, and wider... And that did nothing to alleviate her anxiety at being in the tree at all.
Beechfang used Front Paw Strike for -7 sp, dealing -8 damage. Attack missed!
The snake hissed angrily, darting almost like it was flying through the air. One moment it was there, the next it had struck Ravenclaw. Yowling in pain, Ravenclaw stepped back, having to force herself to focus in order to not go toppling off the branch. That'd be more damage than the snake itself could do.
The snake used Serpent Strike, dealing 6 damage and costing 10 stamina.
Ravenclaw 54 / 60 HP 126 / 140 SP
Snake 2 / 15 HP 65 / 75 SP
Beechfang 35 / 35 hp 63 / 70 sp
Ravenclaw snapped right back, striking at the snake with outstretched claws. This one connected, and the snake went skyrocketing off of the branch and down down down to the ground below.
Ravenclaw used Front Paw Strike, dealing 10 damage and costing 7 stamina.
Ravenclaw 54 / 60 HP 119 / 140 SP
Snake -8 / 15 HP D E A D 65 / 75 SP
Beechfang 35 / 35 hp 63 / 70 sp
"Well..." Ravenclaw laughed, looking down below at the fallen snake. "That takes care of that." Completely undeterred by something as weak as a snake, Ravenclaw kept trying to hunt. Eventually she found another bird, which she once again leapt for, praying for better luck this time. However, she came up empty, as the bird flew away just in time. "Foxdung!" she spat, clawing at the branch in annoyance. She looked towards Beechfang, hoping that she would have more luck.

The snake struck and Ravenclaw, and Beechfang growled, preparing to retaliate, but before she could, her sister had sent the snake flying. Well... That took care of that. "Are you alright?" Beechfang asked, claws continuing to dig into the branch awkwardly. Now that the snake was dealt with, she really, really didn't want to be on the branch. At all.
Ravenclaw turned to try hunting another bird, and Beechfang stared down at the ground for a moment, mentally preparing herself to jump down. It wasn't a long fall, she'd even jumped down from branches around this height. But the lack of depth perception made her hesitate, ears flat to her head. Her body tensed, muscles bunching, and Beechfang took a breath before jumping.
Her landing was awkward, and not for the first time, Beechfang cursed Starclan for what they'd done to her. At least the snow had softened her landing, and she stood, shaking out her fur with a grimace. After a moment of searching she managed to find the scent of another squirrel, and began to move towards it.
Once close enough, Beechfang leapt, only for her claws to come up empty. "Foxdung." She growled in frustration, gaze lifting to find Ravenclaw in the trees. Luck, it seemed, wasn't on their side today.
"I'm fine," Ravenclaw reassured Beechfang from the other branch, watching as her sister leaped down to the ground. There was something about the trees that Beechfang didn't seem to like, though Ravenclaw didn't want to pry. She just swallowed down the question and continued hunting. Yet it was another trip to emptiness. She cursed under her breath as yet another bird got away. They were eventually going to chase every piece of prey out of the territory at this rate.

Another bird spotted, and Beechfang stalked toward it, carefully to keep herself downwind and behind her target. Once more, her paws came up empty, and she spat, tail lashing. "Foxdung. We're not catching anything, at this rate." Beechfang sighed, staring after the bird unhappily. "Think we might just need to call it a day?" Beechfang didn't want to, but at this rate the prey wasn't going to sit around while they made pitiful attempts to catch things.
