Practicing Hunting and Pick-Up Lines [c]

Hailpaw shivered as the wind blew into his face, jostling his fur like a rude sibling. This wasn't the weather for hunting, but the harsh leaf-bare wasn't letting up, so they had to persevere, much to his disappointment. At least his fur blended into the thick blanket of snow, pale decorations chosen as to not ruin his advantage. He rarely used his morning dove feathers as he preferred something more vibrant, but being a warrior required sacrifices.

The white tom lifted his head to sniff. The cold air burned his lungs, but there were some faint prey scents, something rare in this terrible season. The rest of the patrol had needed to split up in hopes of covering more ground and finding more prey. "I think this is a good spot. Let see if we can find anything, hmm?" He purred, padding off with a flick of his tail to find something edible. He had terrible luck with this weather, but he could try anyway.

Taking a moment to search, he found a rocky portion of land. Rodents could be found between the rocks hiding from the cold, perhaps he should look there? He wondered a bit closer, only for a loud hiss to cause him to jump back in fright. "Oh! Rude," he huffed, watching a very angry weasel hop atop the rocks and snarl at him. Apparently, they had the same idea.

Without much time to react, the weasel launched from its perch just behind him, jaws latching onto his tail. Hailpaw cried out in pain, reeling around to claw at its muzzle and face in a desperate attempt for it to let go.

Hailpaw attempted to catch a rodent, but summoned a predator instead! (Sorry, the dice are not kind to me)

Lionpaw padded behind Hailpaw, trying to hold back an eye-roll when he was told to go alone with him. His feelings on the tom were extremely conflicting. As Hailpaw went up to the rocks, he opened his mouth to say something about that action. But alas, it's too late. A hiss came from the rocks and a weasel popped up. And soon, they were engaged in a battle. But, to be fair, it would be a good kill to show off to Bloodstar. Without hesitation, Lionpaw lept forward to go for the weasel, jumping on it's back and gripping his teeth down on its neck.

Lionpaw uses Snap on The Weasel and causes 6 HP and uses 7 HP.

Just as quick as the pain started, it ceased as the weasel squealed in pain, releasing his tail to instead struggle against Lionpaw's attack. It didn't last long though, going limp in the other apprentice's jaws. Hailpaw wasted no time recovering his tail, checking the wound and trying to lick the ruffled fur back into place. The weasel had ruined a feather, but that was nothing compared to the terrible thought of scaring on his beautiful tail. Thankfully, the damage wasn't major. There was more bruising than anything else, only a few tears where the teeth had sunk into his flesh. If it scared over, his fur would cover it. He could continue hunting as long as he saw Muddythorn right after...

"Thank you... that was rather impressive. You really saved my tail there, literally." He chuckled at his own joke before continuing. "I was quite lucky to be paired with a strong tom." Icy eyes shined with a mischievous glint as his tone dropped into something more flirtatious. He hadn't gotten the chance to play one of his favorite games in a while. He wasn't quite sure how Lionpaw would react to it, and honestly he didn't care as long as he didn't get genuinely upset. It was fun to playfully banter back and forth and hilarious to see a cat get flustered, Hailpaw would just have to be careful not to overstep.

"Do you think you could catch something too? It might be a good learning experience for me to watch. It seems the only thing I can't attract is prey."

Weasel was K.Oed!

Lionpaw smirked, licking the blood from his maw from the weasel. Truth be told, this weasel is probably the best kill the pair would be making today. A small eyebrow raised as Hailpaw flirted with him. Sure, he would play along with it. "Well, I'm quite lucky I have the best bait around. Maybe try to tone it back, for a squirrel?" He said with a smug laugh, picking the weasel up off the rock and bringing it down to the snow, and burying it. "By the way, I'm taking credit for this kill." Said with a flick of his tail against the tom's chest, Lionpaw strode past before tasting the air. Squirrels tended to be more prominent in the winter, so it was his best bet. Quietly, he tried to prick around the forest looking for his chance to show off. Breathing in one last time, he finally caught a whiff of a squirrel. A few more paw steps, it was in sight, digging in the snow.

As he crouched down, the harsh wind suddenly changed. The squirrel raised its head, spotting him and darting off before he could make his move. Ugh. At least it wasn't something on him... "Maybe I should have used you as bait." Lonpaw purred, attempting to hide his failure.

He purred as the other tom reciprocated. Good, he didn't want to deal with the awkwardness if Lionpaw had gotten upset. He was looking to have fun and hopefully catch something as well. "Don't worry, I'm not trying to steal your thunder. The kill's all yours." He took a step away from the defeated weasel, both to prove his point and because he didn't want any blood getting on his pelt. His own was bad enough.

Lionpaw was off again to find another catch but sadly missed the mark. "Shame. I guess prey isn't as impressed with you as I am. Perhaps I'll have more luck now if the predators know what's good for them." Hopefully another weasel wouldn't be arrogant enough to try them again and what he and Lionpaw had done to the first, but he wouldn't put it past them either.

He tasted the air, looking for something he could sink his teeth into when the scent of a bird caught his nose. It took a moment for him to pinpoint its location, his ears flicking for its soft chirps before his fuzzy gaze caught the brown shape of a thrush. However, as he crept forward, he managed to miss the shape of a sleepy snake in the underbrush. A sharp pain in his forepaw was enough to alert him though.

Clearly, Starclan wasn't a fan of him today. Or perhaps he was extra tasty to predators. Or maybe the bird feathers in his pelt many everything with sharp teeth mistake him for prey. Regardless, he was starting to get annoyed and upset with how this hunting patrol was going. "Gah! Void it all!" He cursed, his tail lashing as he lashed out at the reptile, but its scaley body avoided his strike as though he was as slow as sap.
