Lakekit’s Daydreams

Lakekit was sprawled out in sunny corner of camp, soaking up the last of the Leaf-fall warmth before the sun went below the clouds and the moorland was frosted over. He was an older kitten, nearly ready to become an apprentice, and he was starting to feel almost as antsy as his den mates. But only almost. Lakekit was content to enjoy laying in the sun for as long as he could. He didn’t want to be put on mouse bile duty anyway…

Hentooth was preoccupied. Very busy. Definitely not putting a frog in Flamepaw’s nest. Nope. That would be a very undignified thing for a medicine cat to do. Besides, where would she even get a frog? It wasn’t like she’d been out hunting and caught one just over the ShadowClan border… oh no.

In her defense, she’d been after herbs. The frog had been an extra. And it was so slimy and yucky no one would want it for anything other than a prank… and so she might as well prank someone who totally deserved it.

Emerging from the apprentice den with a smirk, she caught sight of a kit… oh no. Had he seen her? Maybe, just to be sure, she’d better distract him- and so she trotted over and plopped down next to him.
“Hi. Whatcha doin’?”
