Muddythorn hadn't had a proper emergency in a while, the most recent being Dawnfeather's unfortunate run-in with that Shadowclan apprentice, from which she'd mostly healed from by now. He was still thankful he wasn't dealing with injuries on the same level that Basilpaw was trying to cope with. It was more the occasional single cat, a little roughened up.

He certainly wasn't prepared for what met him today. The medicine cat had just returned from a herb-hunt, the small bundle of herbs he'd collected barely on the ground whilst he decided which to store and dry. Soon frost would be setting in - the amount of healthy herbs on the territory were already decreasing quite rapidly. A chatter rose in camp, and Muddythorn's ears pricked, alert to any danger. Rushing to the entrance of his den, he spotted a very battered-looking patrol returning to camp, Bloodstar leading at the front. His sister was also on the patrol, and looked as if she'd barely made it back to camp. No, no, no, he couldn't lose another family member. The sight of seeing her covered in blood reminded her far too much of Sparrowflight. At least this time, he would have the chance to save her.

"Bloodstar! What happened?" He asked worriedly, already leading the group towards his den, sending concerned glances in the cream warrior's direction every so often. "Those who need it, come straight to my den," On second thought, they all looked terrible. "Actually, never mind, I want all of you there. There are free nests, and those who are feeling a little better, take a seat while I sort everything out."

If he kept talking, the panic didn't rise as quickly. If he kept shuffling through herbs to find the ones he needed, the dread didn't completely take over.

Bloodstar watched as Ashstorm carried Dawnfeather inside. "A border skirmish with Shadowclan. We were victorious but... Dawnfeather had a particularly nasty opponent." Even more nasty after he spat on him. Following the medicine cat's instructions, Bloodstar sat down. He was scratched up but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. Muddythorn could see to Dawnfeather first, his deputy second, and himself last.

"You should have seen the other guys. Shadowclan's medicine cat will have plenty of work on their paws." He was trying to lighten the mood. Dawnfeather had never been this hurt, but he had confidence she'd recover physically. It was her mental state he feared for.

At some point she’d regained consciousness… she thought. If she could think. It was hard. Slow. Sticky. Like honey. Hmm. Sticky thoughts. Heehee. Hawkuncle would like. To hear that one. She thought. If she could think.

Hmm. The slow. steady. sensation of rocking waves. like the ocean he’d told her of. stopped. she was lying still now.

She didn’t have to think. If she could think. When she did. It was slow. Lazy. Languid.

Then the darkness came upon her. It’d been there all along, but she hadn’t noticed, and now that she did, she wanted out.

The golden warrior’s glazed over eyes suddenly began to focus, her breathing quickening from its slow, peaceful cycle. She was awake… now. Her neck hurt with the force of… of… a thousand monsters, like the whole Dark Forest was tearing into her. She let out a small groan, her surroundings stubbornly refusing to come into focus… blood… she’d lost a lot of it… Hawkuncle had told her it could make things… odd…

That was… Muddy’s voice… she thought. Over the ringing in her ears that was slowly subsiding… heh, that was- ouch- funny…

Maybe he could do something about the searing, piercing pain in her neck… it was making it hard to think… and some instinct told her it was still slowly oozing scarlet.

"Basilpaw already had enough to deal with as it was." Muddythorn said, a little more sharply than he intended with all the stress of trying to find herbs. He kept picking up the wrong ones, and couldn't keep his train of thought. "Sorry." He said shortly, truly meaning it, but not really wasting time on his arguably healthiest patient. "Hey, hey Dawn. Can you hear me? Listen to my voice, okay? Don't go to sleep just yet, I need you to listen." Even though his voice was soft and as calm as he could keep it, tears were starting to prick in his eyes. She'd be okay. She had to be. But she'd lost a lot of blood, so he needed to fix that first.

Grabbing a thick wad of cobwebs from the store, he started breaking them up and pressing them to the various cuts and bites on the warrior's pelt. "Bloodstar, Ashstorm can one of you hold these cobwebs in place? They should stay where they are, but we need to apply pressure, she's lost a lot of blood." Too much. With the most of the bleeding dealt with, he could focus on his bigger issue, on he didn't know how to fix as easily: the concussion. He was sure it was mostly down to the blood loss, but the glossy look over his sister's eyes worried him, and the way it felt like she wasn't really there.

Chamomile, that was what he needed. He carefully took a few sprigs of it from his piles, and returned to his sister's side. "Can you eat this Dawn?" He place the herbs in her mouth, trying to limit the amount she moved her neck, "Just chew and swallow, that's all I need you to do." He was handling this surprisingly well, but panic was still very present within him. But she seemed to be a little bit more responsive. A little bit.
