Mistlepaw's Warrior Ceremony

A huff escaped Flintstar as he limped his way out of the medicine cat den, having taken to staying in there while his shoulder wound as healing. While he couldn't do much with his leg being as it were now, he wasn't going to let it stop him from his duties - even if Murkystrike had offered to take over the warrior ceremonies. Perhaps he couldn't risk jumping his way onto the Jaggedrock but that didn't mean he couldn't still call the Clan together to preform his duties. He gave a shake of his head as he padded into the shadow of the Jaggedrock, taking a seat just below it as he stared out across the camp before he raised his head and his voice.

"ShadowClan! Gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock!"

Mistlepaw joined the rest of the clan beneath Jaggedrock at their leader's call. She was surprised, however to find Flintstar stranding atop the rock, like normal, but on the ground. Although she hadn't been there, she'd heard what had happened at the most recent Gathering. Even though he was injured, the apprentice assumed he would power through - he had more lives than most, anyways. Brighteye's words were still fresh in her mind. They had been somewhat vague, but maybe one day the advice would come into play. Maybe when she was a warrior.

It was...Strange, sitting at the base of the rock as he watched the Clan gather. Flintstar's whiskers twitched as he let out a soft sigh, before he lifted his head. "I've called you all here to witness one of our apprentices reach the rank of warrior. Mistlepaw, please step forward," he meowed as he turned to look at her, giving a nod of acknowledgement to her. Once she had done so, he continued on. "I, Flintstar, leader of ShadowClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Mistlepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

While she waited for Flintstar to continue speak, Mistlepaw's mind drifted slightly, just like it always did. However, she was quickly snapped back to reality when she heard her own name leave the tom's mouth. Confused, she took a small step forward, not because she was shy, but because her mind and body hadn't really caught up with each other yet. So this was her time. She met the leader's gaze, yellow eyes to yellow eyes. 'Don't hesitate for too long.' Once again, those words found their way into her mind. "I do." She replied, voice clear. Even though she'd watched her fair share of warriors ceremonies, she couldn't help but find it strange that all the suspense and training and stories she'd heard as a kit boiled down to two, simple words. Surely that meant being a warrior couldn't be too hard.

Flintstar gave a sharp nod of his head as Mistlepaw spoke the two words, shifting on his one good leg. He hated sitting still and normally dealt with it by kneading but that...That was impossible now with his unusable leg to his annoyance - sitting through ceremonies and the like was nearly unbearable but he would suffer through it, for the good of the Clan. "Then by the powers granted to me, I give you your warrior name. Mistlepaw, from this moment on you will be known as Mistlebright. We honor your observance and imagination, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ShadowClan." With a huff, he pushed himself onto his paws - swaying unevenly as he tried to focus his weight onto his good front leg before he limped forwards to rest his chin on Mistlebright's head.

Mistlebright. Just like cousin Brighteye. In a way, the brand-new warrior wished she could somehow be named after both her parents, but as she'd learnt at the moonstone, not everything was possible. Still, it made her happy that she could carry a part of the fallen warrior with her, physically as well as mentally. She was getting distracted again. "Thank you." She didn't know what she was supposed to do know, but she was a warrior. More freedom, at least that was what everyone said. And lots of cats asking what it felt like to join a new rank, but not really listen to the answer. She had a nice name though. That was new.

Frostgaze made his way over from where he had been sitting, pleased that today was his apprentice's ceremony. She had worked hard, trained hard, and deserved her name in every way. He had nothing left to teach her. She might not be perfect, but perfection came with experience. Now she had learned everything to the degree to be an effective warrior. He was proud of her.

"Mistlebright, congratulations on your warrior name. You worked hard for this, and I am proud of you, and your progress. I believe that you will become a great warrior of Shadowclan." With a respectful dip of his head to a now equal, Frostgaze padded away, leaving Mistlebright to her thoughts and other congratulations.
