Prickletail… yeah, his days were feeling pretty long. Slow. Painful- it seemed he always got into border fights. He was getting more and more frustrated as the days went on, a slow, boiling frustration. Yeah, maybe that was part of why he asked Cherrycloud to spar with him. He needed to let it out, on a somewhat willing participant. Besides, he could teach her, and teaching someone generally got him in a good mood.

They reached a clearing, strewn with dead leaves. He sighed and turned to his sister, feeling a spark of energy ignite within him at the prospect of a spar. He was going to enjoy this. “Alright. Show me what you’ve got. You have the first move.” His claws unsheathed as he stood, seemingly uncaring, a slight smirk appearing on his snout.

Cherrycloud stopped with Prickletail in a clearing. He had invited her to spar, and she had agreed to come. It would be nice to spend time with her brother and touch up on her battle skills. Okay, he was letting me have the first turn. Leaping at him would be too obvious…What if I tried to trick him? That might work, she thought to herself. Yes, outsmarting him should work, she added. Cherrycloud dropped into a crouch and focused all of her attention to one of his shoulders. She wanted it to seem like she was going that one. She suddenly rushed forward, but turned to the other side before she reached him. She struck out with paws, batting at his other shoulder. She leaped away to safety and waited for what would happen next

Cherrycloud stared at his shoulder like she could knock him off balance by sheer will. What did she think she was doing? Prickletail sighed and opened his maw, but before he could speak she surged forwards with sheathed paws. Oh no you don’t, he thought with a hiss, taking a small step to the side, just enough for her paws to strike nothing but air. He lunged forwards, intending to gently rake his claws down her side, but she was too fast. Erg.

“What do you think this is, a mossball fight?” He asked in exasperation. “At least partially unsheathe your claws. Keep your paws away from the face and everyone’s happy.”


Prickletail used Dodge and Fight, negating previous damage. Counterattack was unsuccessful.

Cherrycloud partly unsheathed her claws, as to not hurt him badly. It seemed like her attack missed, but Prickletail’s did, too. I guess I could try striking out at him again, but I could risk him dodging it. A belly rake could work, but there’s a good chance it won’t work. It’s probably worth the risk, she carefully thought. Cherrycloud prepaired to pounce and lunged at her brother once again. This time she tucked her legs in and tried to roll underneath him. She knocked into his legs, preventing her from attacking. She tried to scramble to her feet, knowing that this was the perfect opportunity for her brother to strike.

Prickletail sighed, flicking his tail as his sister thought. Did she think she’d have time to think in a real battle? Suddenly, she roused herself and charged at him… only to tumble to the ground. “This- is sad.” Almost lazily he swiped at her with unsheathed claws, careful to keep away from her face.

Cherrycloud felt the sharp prick of Prickletail’s claws against her side as she got to her paws. She used this spare time to think off her next plans to attack. This plan would hopefully work out in her favor. Making a cat think you would do one thing and doing the opposite usually worked. Yet everything else she tried to do seemed to fail. The had blow knocked her back and she was at a good distance to jump. She hoped this would catch him off guard and lunged forward. She threw all of her weight into this attack, hoping to knock Prickletail to the ground.

Cherrycloud seemed to hesitate… then threw herself at him. With force. Prickletail tumbled backwards, leaping to his paws as soon as he could. He wasn’t about to lose this fight-he was teaching her, not the other way around.

With a yowl, he bowled straight into his sister, relying on his bulky and powerful frame to knock her over and shove her into the dirt (perhaps a bit roughly). His wide paws gripped her shoulders, keeping her well pinned. “This is how you do it.”

He never could resist a snarky remark.

Her plan seemed to work, with Prickletail stumbling backwards, but he soon got on his feet again. He charged forward and shoved her to the ground. His snarky remark didn’t help either. She let out a hiss in frustration and flailed about. She hoped that his grip would loosen enough that she could escape.

Despite all of her attempts to break free, it seemed that she wouldn’t be able to. Her last attempt of battering his belly with her hind legs also failed. He couldn’t hold her forever, so she kept trying to wiggle out of his grasp.
