The leaf-fall air was crisp, the green grass giving way to shades of golds and browns as Swiftspirit led a hunting patrol out of camp. Glancing towards the forest on Windclan's borders, the trees showed off vivid reds and golds, though flashes of green still stubbornly showed how the warm seasons had been kind to the land.
Focusing her attention on the moors around her rather than what lay beyond Windclan's borders, Swiftspirit's jaws parted as she scented the air, quickly picking up a trace of hare on the breeze. She turned with a flick of her tail, splitting from the rest of the patrol as she followed the scent. A bit of carefully making her way through the grasses, and the pale she-cat spotted her prey. Exploding forward as the wind changed directions slightly, Swiftspirit chased after the brown and white hare, determined not to let the catch get away from her.
With another burst of speed, the warrior cut off the hare's escape attempt, fangs snapping at the creature's throat. Swiftspirit grinned as she turned toward the rest of her patrol, the hare dangling from her jaws as she trotted towards them with a friendly wave of her tail.

Maplewhisker followed her patrol, the drying grass crackling beneath her paws. The breeze had gained a chill in the past moons, and she could feel her pelt thickening, adapting to the cooler weather. She gave a small cry of surprise as a gust of wind blew a crisp, browning leaf into her face. Brushing the leaf off and giving her chest fur a couple of embarrassed licks, she continued after the others.
Maplewhisker watched as Swiftspirit darted away from the group. She hoped that the she-cat would catch the hare she had scented. Keeping the fresh-kill pile stocked was very important right now. Lifting her nose to the air, she hoped to detect some prey of her own. Just as she had detected a bird, Swiftspirit came trotting back, the hare hanging from her mouth. Wow! Maplewhisker thought That was fast! "Nice catch!" She told her, then ran off in the direction of the bird.
The bird-scent was already really close. Maplewhisker saw it picking around the dried grass stems. She crept closer, her mouth watering at the smell. When within leaping distance, she struck. She jumped at the bird, ending it's life in a quick bite. Picking the bird up in her mouth, she suppressed a sneeze as a feather tickled her nose. Maplewhisker padded back to the patrol, eyes bright and tail high, happy that she had caught something too.

"Thanks," Swiftspirit mewed, burying the hare for later retrieval. Maplewhisker wasn't someone she was really familiar with beyond the name, though as Swiftspirit watched her take down a bird, it was easy to see that the older warrior was a skilled hunter. "Wow, birds are tricky to catch!" She grinned at the red-brown she-cat's success before turning in search of more prey.
A rabbit that was on the smaller end poked its head out of a burrow, and Swiftspirit went still, silently hoping that the wind wouldn't change direction and bring her towards the creature. After a few moments, the rabbit hopped from the den, probably in search of food for itself. Swiftspirit darted forward, long legs easily covering the distance between her and her prey. Her fangs caught the rabbit's throat, and she returned to where she'd buried her previous catch, stowing the rabbit next to the hare.
If they could keep this up, Windclan would be well fed tonight.
