Junipers and Beeches [Juniperlight]

The air held a muggy, humid quality to it as Beechface wearily padded in the direction of camp, carrying a bundle of herbs. The demand for fresh herbs was unending, and she knew that what she'd gathered wouldn't last long. Someone would injure themselves, or fall sick, she'd treat them, and the abysmal herb stores in the back of the medicine den would be right back where they'd been before she'd gone out this morning.

She had started to find the mindless repetitiveness of it all somewhat less frustrating for all of two minutes, but she hardly remembered what that felt like now. Now, she despised and resented it more than ever. It all seemed to utterly pointless.

A stray rock had the medicine cat stumbling slightly, a frustrated growl escaping her as she glared down at the offending stone. There was a point in time where she didn't trip and stumble over every little thing in her path. She should have noticed the rock far sooner than she had. With a huff, the medicine cat's gaze lifted towards the sky, stars just starting to become visible, and glared for a moment, tail lashing in frustration.

With another frustrated breath, Beechface started towards camp again, this time more careful where she put her paws.

Juniperlight let out a soft meow of greeting. He’d seen the medicine cat’s dense fur flashing between the trees as he dug up fresh moss and carried his ‘catch’ to meet her on the path back to camp. “Would you like some company home?” Hummed the quiet tom after he set his mossball on the ground. Beechface had her mouth full of herbs, and with a stifled grin, he thought it was funny that they were both carrying plants back. He imagined having to hunt flowers like birds, stalking them before they flitted away in the wind. It was nonsense. He quite enjoyed nonsense. It took the gravity away from SkyClan’s typical barrage of woes.

Juniperlight's voice made Beechface jump slightly, not having expected her clanmate to be around. She glanced over at him, whiskers twitching slightly as she noted the moss he'd been carrying. Attempting to mumble around the herbs was a losing battle, so she set the bundle down to speak.

"Oh... Sure, Juniperlight." She mewed, not quite able to hide the tiredness from her voice. Out of all the cats in the clan... Juniperlight might've been one to understand at least part of her problems, she thought. He was friends with the elders stuck in her den, surely he was just as worried about Foxfire as she was. And he'd... helped her adjust to only having one eye, an experience the two were unfortunate enough to share. Since returning to the clan, he'd proven himself a loyal warrior. More loyal than the clan's deputy, even.

Unable to muster up much else to say, Beechface picked up her bundle and started to walk.
