Stuck. Quietstep was stuck. She had been stuck, for the past moon. She had been stuck, inside a twoleg's den. Stuck with a dog, and a twoleg.
The twoleg seemed to never leave, always watching Quietstep from it's perch. The dog wasn't as bad, as it seemed more focused on getting it's twoleg's attention, though sometimes it would stalk towards Quietstep, and tried to get her attention. And every time, she gave it a weak, and feeble, hiss.
Around Quietstep's neck, there was a weird thing, that never choked her, strangely enough. It was a purple color, one that only flowers bore. And attached to it, was weird golden-yellow, cold, things, that would always make a strange jingly sound, especially with the round one, with it's jingle being the loudest. Quietstep hated to admit it, but she'd lying if she said she didn't find it enticing. So sometimes, she'd bat her paw at it.
The twoleg seemed to read her mind, as now there were a bunch of jingly things, all spread out across the den. Sometimes, she grab them, and play with them inside a den, that was part of a weird soft tree. It was where Quietstep spent most of her days, only coming out to use the strange dirtplace, drink water, and eat the kittypet food. At first she didn't want to eat it, but her hunger got the best of her, and soon enough she got used to it's strange and dull taste. Sure she missed the prey of the forest, but she didn't mind the kittypet food. And sometimes, the twoleg would give her another kittypet food, one that came in small amounts, and they tasted better than the normal food. She didn't get them as often she liked though, as then Quietstep would have to eat out of the twoleg's hand, which she did not enjoy.
It didn't suck as much as Quiestep thought, but she still hated it. She still missed her mother and Rosethorn. She wondered how much Skyclan missed her.
Probably not at all. The tiny voice at the back of her head edged on, but Quietstep always ignored it. It had begun popping up ever since Quietstep had been captured. She didn't why it would tell her these these awful things, and she didn't why, but deep down, she agreed with them. She didn't want to, so she always suppressed it down.
The sun had begun setting, as Quietstep ate the kittypet food, until it was all gone. At least with it, she wouldn't have to worry about putting away any bones. She lifted up her head, and got ready to return to the fluffy tree, when she heard a jingling noise. It was from the big nest the twoleg would sit(?) on, but never slept on. The dog slept on it sometimes though. Quietstep tried her best to resist the urge to go towards it, especially with the twoleg on the nest, with the dog at the foot of it, but she just couldn't! So she padded over to the jingly thing, hopping onto the nest. She batted the jingly thing with her paw, an air of satisfaction hitting her, at the sound of the jingle.
Suddenly though, she felt the twoleg's paw onto her back.
Quietstep felt her fur spike up, as she felt the urge to run. The twoleg then stroked her back, like how her mother would stroke with her tounge as a cat, and Quietstep felt weirdly, relaxed. She laid down, letting the twoleg stroke her, enjoying it.
What am I doing? I'm letting a twoleg touch me! This is against everything Bloodstrike and Skyclan taught me! Didn't they teach you that everycat that's not pure Skyclan is a disgrace, and looked down upon? There it was, the voice.
W-well yea? And didn't you disagree with that? Yes. Plus, Skyclan never cared for you, they just pulled you into a senseless war! Plus what would they think of your friendship with Rosethorn? I guess they wouldn't have approved, and probably would've exiled me. It's not like we'd have any kits to allow us to stay, or any important roles. Yes, that's the spirit! Skyclan never cared, and who makes you think they'd care that you've been missing for the past moon? If you came back, they'd probably just exile you anyways! Plus this twoleg doesn't seem so bad. Yea your right! I'll just stay here! They'd have to be the ones calling me back! There we go Delilah.Quietstep, no, Delilah, felt an air of happiness and for the first time, pride, as she realized that she didn't need Skyclan. The twoleg cared about her more than her own clan for Starclan's sake! She was happy here, and well, she preferred to be happy instead of worrying everyday.
For the first time, she felt at home.
Though there was still Rosethorn to be thought about.
