Dawnpaw nodded fearfully to Ashaunt, but her brief moment of distraction was enough for the eagle to start to escape her pin. The golden apprentice sunk her jaws into the bird’s neck, biting through the feathers and tasting blood. The eagle’s struggles became more and more frantic but the apprentice managed to hang on for a few more seconds. Suddenly, with a last cry, the bird threw her off and she tumbled to the ground with a pained squeak. Eyes blazing with rage, the bird lashed out with its talons. Dawnpaw rolled out of the way a moment too late, and one of the eagle’s blows struck her hind leg. She gave a frightened yowl and leapt unsteadily back into the trees, hoping Ashaunt could finish it off- she needed to make sure the eagle hadn’t seriously harmed her.

Dawnpaw used Snap, dealing 6 damage and costing 7 stamina. Eagle used Talon strike, dealing 7 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Ashstorm hated seeing her niece get hurt. She went to attempt to block the eagle from hitting her, but it all happened so fast that she could not. Ashstorm rushed to the side of the eagle, stood on her hind legs and hit down on it's head with her paws. It sank to the ground, dead. Ashstorm helped Dawnpaw up when she needed it. "Are you still okay?" She asked, genuinely concerned. "We probably should get heading back to camp."

Ashstorm used Upright Lock. dealing 10 in damage and using -20SP.
