On the road again [O]

Brookthistle stretched, claws making marks in the sand. Lifting her head, she let the wind blow through her mane, closing her eyes briefly. With a longing glance towards the medicine den, as if doing so would make Downtuft recover from greencough sooner, she led her patrol out of camp.

Her first hunting patrol as a warrior! She was determined to bring back a good catch. Scenting the air, she caught traces of squirrel. I have improved since my apprentice days. She thought wistfully, creeping up on the squirrel, making sure to stay downwind, just like her mentor taught her all those moons ago.

With powerful hindlegs, she pushed forward at incredible speed, catching the squirrel off guard and swiftly ending it.

Sunnyskip nodded to the younger warrior as she caught her squirrel, smiling slightly. "Nice catch, Brookthistle!" She mewed before turning to follow the scent of a quail she had picked up on a moment before. She lowered herself to the ground and began to creep through the gorse, letting the yellow flowers that dotted it disguise her figure as she approached the source of the scent quietly. Finally she came up on it, and with a leap she pinned the bird to the ground, cutting off it's dying shriek swiftly. Standing, she picked the bird up and carried it out of the tall grasses before burying it and turning to scent the air and survey the area.

Brookthistle blinked at Sunnyskip, "Oh, uh, thanks." She mumbled. The she-cat wasn't used to compliments. Downtuft hadn't been hunting with her for a long time, and with the severity of his greencough, he'd been quarantined so she couldn't even speak with him. Sunpaw was really the only cat she hung out with, so hearing an older warrior compliment her made her feel happy.

Realizing she should probably return the compliment, she  nodded at Sunnyskip's catch. "Nice one!" she mewed, offering a smile before turning around. Spotting a hare, she crouched, waiting for the perfect moment before launching herself towards it. It gave chase for a moment, but Brook had been too close when it spotted her, and she caught it easily.

Bringing the hare back to where the squirrel and bird where, she looked at Sunnyskip. Maybe.. she could make conversation? "Soo, how have you been?" She asked, scanning the moor for any signs of prey, but keeping an ear cocked in Sunnyskip's direction.

"Thank you!" Sunnyskip purred, staying still while Brookthistle chased down a hare. As the younger warrior added it to the quickly growing pile, Sunnyskip smiled. "I've been... Alright. As well as one can be, really, given recent events. How about you?" She questioned, looking out over the moor for any signs of prey. Things seemed quiet at the moment, but that could always change in a moment.
