Time to Move On [OPEN]

Bearspirit sat at the edge of a stream and stared into the water. He could see several fish hiding behind rocks and sticks and whatever obstructions they could to take a break from trying to swim upstream. The Riverclan warrior had an air of melancholy about him, despite how the battle turned out and that Swiftspirit was going to be okay. He was glad that she was alright... but he knew he had performed dreadfully in that battle. He never should have been there. Well, I suppose I could have done worse. I could have been a traitor. His mind went to Mountainheart, absolutely baffled as to why she would suddenly change sides. There was a weight of shame in Bearspirit's heart, but even more there was sadness. Swiftspirit was a Windclan cat... they could never be together. She was likely going to find a Windclan tom that she fancied and where would that leave him? Alone.

The marbled tom sighed loudly and tried to refocus on what he was doing. The clan needed to eat... and for once there was a small break in between where the twolegs and their dogs were. He leaned forward over the water slowly... and shot out a clawed paw to catch a frog resting on a rock. Unfortunately... it was gone in a flash into the water swimming to who knows where. Bearspirit scowled and sat back on his haunches. He knew he shouldn't be hunting here, but to know that Swiftspirit was hurt and should be resting... and also that he should start staying away from her... made being on the moor more uncomfortable than it already was.

"You're not good for anything, are you Mikael?" He muttered to himself, using his old name, getting ready to leave before twolegs or dogs came back.

She wanted to know so badly how the battle had gone, or rather, she wanted to know how Tawnyflare fared. Brick hadn't spoken to her in moons. After their whole lives spent being inseparable, being apart from her sister felt unnatural. The days blended together now without her to talk to. Yet she couldn't even ask the RiverClan cats who were there how she was, not after everything she'd done to hurt them. Not after Shrikefrost. The tortoiseshell she-cat sat crouched up the shoreline from Bearspirit. She got the sense that he had something on his mind as well but perhaps didn't want to talk about it, and indeed he muttered something to himself she couldn't pick out. She shook her head and gazed down into the water, straining her eyes for any sort of movement. Perhaps it was because she needed more training, but she couldn't find a single fish! There was a sound, however, along the bank. The sound of something small shifting the reeds. She twisted her body around and shot forward, both front paws searching for the slimy skin of what she now saw was a bewildered toad. Yet it had seen her a half-heartbeat too early and hopped just out of reach, because of course it did. She gave a little exasperated sigh.

He knew it was going to be a a rather fruitless hunting patrol. Ever since the twolegs and their nasty dogs showed up, their prey had been running thin and their territory size was shrinking. They had to be extra careful when going out in case they ran into one of the ugly dogs or worse, into one of the twolegs. That was what scared him the most. He'd take a dog over a twoleg any day. He had only bad encounters with those two-legged creatures and even now he was still having nightmares of the days after he'd been taken and the many, many moons of little rest just so he could travel back home. He wouldn't wish what he went through upon even his enemies.

From the looks of it, he was right. None of his groupmates were having luck with their hunting. The tom he came to learn was named Bearspirit seemed to be preoccupied with worry about something. Robin was tempted to go over to where he was and ask but he refrained from doing so because he needed to try his luck at hunting first. It was only fair that he put in some work and effort just like the rest of them.

The area they were at had quite a few frogs and toads. He was currently inching as closely as he could to a frog he'd spotted after wandering around for a bit. He wasn't she he'd catch it but he had to try. Robinpatch wiggled his rump as he prepared to leap at the slimy creature and after a minute, he finally went for it.

Darn. He had a big feeling that he wouldn't catch it but that still didn't stop him from grumbling in frustration. Stupid twolegs ruining everything. The calico warrior sighed and got back up onto his paws and turned to look at Bearspirit. Should he go? After some time pondering the situation, he decided to try and talk to the younger tom.

As he approached, he made sure his pawsteps were making more noise than normal so he wouldn't catch Bearspirit off guard. "Um...hey? What's got you worried? I can almost feel your unease and concern radiating off ya."
