| Otrera lingered in an enclave hewn in rock. It was perhaps the most stable nesting place she could find; which was slim pickings in the land of Upwalkers. The large brown tabby stretched her paws, peeking out of her found home. The sweltering heat of long-sun was especially harsh on her long fur. She was thankful for shade.
Pawsteps crinkled in stray leaves, with a rattle and shake from a nearby bush.
She raised her hackles, slinking out of the nest.
With an open mouth, Otrera tried analyzing what she smelled.
Definitely male... but what else? Is there two?
She leaped out of her cave, swiveled on her paws, facing another cat.
"State your business, traveler. I've not got all day."
Perhaps she was jaded, a critique she was willing to accept. Niceties ended in homelessness and starvation, and if this cat lived on the roads long enough, he would know that too.
She peered into his eyes, her own emerald ones searching for a tell. Was he an idiot and couldn't smell her markings? Perhaps, she concluded, don't attribute to malice what can be attributed to stupidity. Or did he know who she was? |

| Dawnhawk had carried back two snakes, intending to bring them to Dawnpaw. One had been venomous, an adder, and the other was a harmless... uh... not adder. The name of the snake slipped his mind. He was going to show her the difference between the two and the absolute importance of knowing that difference. She had proven to be a hard sleeper... and maybe somewhere deep down he had decided she was pretty... adorable. She had been left behind to sleep in the old Nightstriker quarters, no doubt covered in leaves and grasses and things for bedding. She was fairly well hidden.
Dawnhawk approached the camp with both snakes in tow... when he saw an unfamiliar she-cat step out into the opening. He froze in place. It took all of his energy to not look at the Nightstriker's Quarters where he'd left his niece. The she-cat had the audacity to call him a traveler as well...
Dawnhawk tossed both snakes aside and fixed her in a cold gaze. "I live here." He growled. An emotion that he could only describe as a paternal protectiveness washed over him. He didn't know who this stranger was... but he did know that she was far too close to where Dawnpaw was currently hidden. He hoped that she hadn't already been discovered and dispatched. He didn't smell any blood... but apprentice-aged kits could be killed easily without much bloodshed. He had killed one with a well-aimed kick after all...
The pale tom lurched forward, letting the Windclan part of him shoot him forward with a terrifying swiftness. He combined that with his Skyclan leaping power as he bowled the strange she-cat over. He dug in his claws... and he dug them deep.
"You are trespassing!" He hissed. "I've killed a lot of cats, traveler. If you don't get out of here it won't bother me one bit to add another to my body count." He growled at her, ferocity coupled with concern or the safety of Dawnpaw fueling him to practically foam at the mouth atop this strange she-cat. Any other time, he'd be hitting on her, most likely.
But today was different. And how unfortunate it was for her that he was not alone. He hoped that Dawnpaw would hear what was going on and know to stay hidden. Maybe she didn't know that not all cats could be trusted, but Dawnhawk did. He knew better than most.
Dawnhawk used Leap and Hold, dealing 10 damage and -15SP

| Dawnpaw had always been a sound sleeper. She’d slept through Cl- through many bad dreams. There must have been an underlying current of unease for her to wake so easily… although most would not call the sounds of fighting cats something to sleep through. Her eyelids flickered slowly open, and she slowly brushed aside the vegetation Hawkuncle had put there. Hawkuncle. She needed to come up with something better to call him. Perhaps just Hawk, like she called Stag just Stag- but it lacked any form of relationship or connection. She suddenly started to her paws. Hawkuncle was fighting, fighting another cat. Stars above! What could she do, what could she do, what could she do… herbs. Herbs came back suddenly to her mind, the herbs Hawkuncle had given her. They weren’t far off. He could handle the she-cat until she got back. It was mere seconds, it seemed, until she arrived back, panting, and laid the herbs on the ground. She thought it was the ones he had used on her, but she couldn’t remember exactly what they looked like. She wanted Beechaunt. She wanted Moma. She wanted Smokema. She was… scared. She’d heard all her life of cats outside the warrior code, mean cats. She’d never thought twice about it, but, facing a mean cat, she found it hard to give the newcomer the benefit of the doubt. Especially when she’d attacked Hawkuncle. Family came first. Right? Stars, when it came down to it, Hawkuncle was more important. She thought. The image of him lying there, bloody and broken, came to mind. Family was definitely more important… at least until the fight ended. Dawnpaw hurried to Hawkuncle’s side, fur bristling. She reached out and smacked the she-cat on the face. Ooooh, that looked like it hurt. “I’m sorry! You shouldn’t have attacked Hawkuncle, though! He isn’t a real hawk! No offense, of course, Hawkuncle.” This wasn’t poetry, not like hunting. At least, not yet. Hawkuncle had amazed her in so many ways, she was willing to wait and see.
Dawnpaw used Front Paw Blow! (Kinda. At least she tried.) It deals 4 damage and costs 5 stamina!
Dawnpaw 20/20 HP 75/80 SP
Otrera 31/ 45 HP 100/100 SP
Dawnhawk Unchanged
