Subject: Who Are You? [Kylo] Tue 29 Jun 2021 - 11:21
The evening air was still and quiet, save for the occasional monster that prowled along the thunderpath and sent an acrid, uncomfortably-warm breeze in Swiftspirit's direction as she stalked along Windclan's side of the border. It made her nose wrinkle in distaste, but someone had to patrol the border, and she'd found herself close enough to it that doing so wasn't really out of the way.
With a huff, Swiftspirit continued forward, eyes narrowing as a scent broke through the acrid stench of the thunderpath. Cat scent, and not Windclan. Not Shadowclan either, though Swiftspirit wasn't that familiar with their scent without it being obscured by the thunderpath, either. Rogue, she decided, gaze sweeping along the area for signs of whatever this cat was. No sign of the stranger, but Swiftspirit knew how quickly that could change. Especially with scent being this fresh.
"Someone there?" She called softly. Someone was there, and she just hoped this wouldn't turn into a fight. Swiftspirit wasn't in the habit of trusting rogues (or anyone, for that matter) blindly, but nor did she attack others unprovoked... Even if they were on Windclan territory.

This one was perceptive, that was clear to Kylo as the WindClanner passed beneath him, pausing to scent him out. But rarely do they look up, he mused to himself. It made sense to him, he supposed, seeing as WindClan mostly hunted things they could chase down, and not things that lived in trees, but here along the Thunderpath there were many trees, and it would be simple for Kylo to just drop on to this she-cat's head. But he didn't wish to do that... in fact, he didn't wish to fight at all, so when she called out, Kylo chirped softly, bringing attention to himself.
He was lounging several fox-lengths in the tree, on a bough that stretched out even over the Thunderpath at its very tip. Kylo was no fan of the Thunderpath, but its presence did exude some sort of natural repellant for the clan cats, even those whose territory it crossed. Rarely did he meet interference as long as he followed its borders. "Someone indeed," he called softly, tilting his head. "You are out of your comfort here in the trees, WindClanner? Perhaps in the future it would be smart to occasionally lift your gaze, hm?" His tone was colored with amusement, not menace or derisiveness, and he offered a coy smile.

The soft chirp brought her attention skyward, and Swiftspirit couldn't help a soft laugh as she finally spotted the tom lounging on the branch above.
"I should haave, easy to slip one's mind when there are no trees on your territory, minus the borders." She agreed mildly. The pointed tom gave off no hints of aggression or malice, though Swiftspirit wasn't so easily fool by body language alone. He was still a loner, still an unknown... But he wasn't trespassing on Windclan territory, technically.
"What brings a loner to clan borders?" Swiftspirit knew of plenty of reasons a loner might approach clan territory. Some sought to join as she did. Others sought prey, or a fight as they passed through. And others still had darker intentions. Of course, he could be just another wandering spirit, and Swiftspirit was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. While she wasn't one to blindly put trust in someone, she also liked to think that most cats did not have hidden motives, either. If this loner wasn't showing signs of wanting to start of a fight, she had little issue with his presence.

Pleased by the return of loose, nonthreatening body language, Kylo flicked his tail, resting one paw on the foreleg that wasn't hanging over the branch and peering down at her. "I could ask you the same question," he said, though he knew why she was here: checking the borders, refreshing scent markers... all things he'd grown used to while watching the clans operate. Something about this cat in particular though, spoke differently than most of the others he'd met. Even Moonshine, his favorite so far, had been ready to fight, at first.
"What brings you so far out, and so alone? Rarely do the clan cats travel alone, I've noticed... and those who do, well... typically have... hm..." he tilted his head, searching for the words before continuing. "A story to tell, perhaps... a reason, for their solitude." The loner's long tail flicked again and then hung limply below him, off the branch. "So tell me, do you have a story, stranger? One that would make you so welcoming to a trespasser such as myself?"

"You don't seem like you're in a fighting mood, when you could have easily dropped on me from above. I see no reason for hostility when there doesn't need to be." She stated simply. She had a so-called story, most cats did. It wasn't one that Swiftspirit felt needed to be shared, however. Definitely not with a stranger, at least.
"Merely enjoying the quiet. I was close enough while hunting, might as well have patrolled the borders while I was here." That was true, though likely he'd wanted something more in her answer. Swiftspirit was an agreeable cat, but trust was never something to be freely given. She didn't even trust her own clanmates to share stories of her origins with them, so why would she trust a random loner on Windclan's border? As far as he need be concerned, she was merely a typical Windclan cat, nothing more.
