Mother and Son (CLOSED)

Shrikesong was in the nursery with Squirrelkit. By now, he was old enough to wander around camp on his own, and Shrikesong knew that soon he will be apprenticed by Minkstream and become an apprentice. She was going to see him grow up right before her eyes.

Whenever they interacted, the dark ginger tom made Shrikesong smile whole-heartedly, a difficult feat for most, but something that he did quite often. Perhaps it would be good to talk with the kit more, before he became an apprentice and was more busy doing apprentice work.

Turning to the kit, she gave a warm smile to him. "Good morning, Squirrelkit," she said, grooming his face. "It's time to wake up." Though she had never raised kits before, she tried her best to make sure that she was the best mother for Squirrelkit, and she hoped that she was succeeding.

The tom stirred to Shrikesong's voice. "Mmmm...? Morning..."

It had been a while since the she-cat brought him to ThunderClan. He blinked a few times, fluffing out his coat. Stars, it was hot...

"What did ya want to do today?"

He rose to his paws and stretched. Grinning from ear to ear, he looked back at her. "We could do anything! It's sunny out. What did ya want to do? Any ideas? It'll be great!"

Squirrelkit was awake now. Puffing out his chest and tail, strutting around. He fancied himself a warrior.

Shrikesong looked up at the sky. The sun was very bright out, and despite her short fur she felt herself getting hot as well. She understood Squirrelkit's urge to go and have fun, and Shrikesong honestly felt the same way. "I'm not sure," she admitted. "Do you have any ideas on what we could play together?" Maybe Squirrelkit had some ideas, since the brown she-cat was a little stumped for stuff. Would moss-ball be good, or would it be too kittish for him? They really couldn't play tag, since it was only the two of them. They could play Clans, maybe, but Shrikesong didn't really know the rules of the game. Really, she would let Squirrelkit decide what he wanted to play, and Shrikesong would follow along. The brown she-cat didn't mind what they played.
