Troublesome Pest

Dewlight's pelt prickled with apprehension. She had been told that there was a weasel bothering the queens and their kits as they attempted to teach the young ones how to swim at the broken pools, and she had eagerly accepted the task of going to help. What she hadn't been told was that Ivystar would be joining. This was one of the first times the she-cat had ever truly been around Ivystar, let alone on a patrol, and she was nervous and desperate to show the stoic, fiery leader what she was capable of. As the two she-cats padded through RiverClan's territory to the shallow pools that dotted a small area, Dewlight occasionally opened her mouth to say something before quickly closing it. She realized that she didn't have much of an idea of what Ivystar liked and didn't like, so she chose to remain quiet as they moved to carry out the task assigned to them. As an apprentice, she had asked what she could do to make her clanmates and her leader happy, and she couldn't help but feel as though she had failed in her task before it even began. She wanted to blame Asylum and their presence, but deep down she knew that she still could have been there for her clanmates, and instead she forgot what her goals were.

It wasn't long before they could see the small pools of water indicating the edge of the broken pools. Slowing to a stop, Dewlight searched for any signs of the weasel, and she found it pretty quickly. It was curled up near the edge of the water, looking as if it was staring into the shallow puddle. The way the water was rippling, it may have even been drinking. Giving Ivystar a small nod, she circled around the weasel to sneak up behind it as silently as she could, taking note of the direction the wind was blowing. She had to get this right, for the queens and kits, for her clan, for Ivystar. When she was within range, she suddenly leaped up, crashing down with her forepaws pressing the weasel's head into the water. It squirmed under her, struggling to raise it's head as she looked to see how close Ivystar was. With the element of surprise on their side, this battle should be an easy one.

With careful and purposeful pawsteps, Ivystar made her way through the territory and eventually to the broken pools, where the troublesome weasel was last spotted. As Dewlight and Ivystar traversed the territory side-by-side, the grey she-cat cast her an occasional glance. She wasn't the biggest fan of small talk so on the personal side of things, she appreciated the silence. She had to admit that she hadn't interacted with the young she-cat as much as she'd liked during her apprenticeship, but perhaps over the coming moons, that could be resolved by joining her on more patrols and the like.

As they finally reached the scattered set of pools, Ivystar gave her a small nod as she circled around the wiry furred creature, taking it by surprise and ultimately giving Ivystar the perfect opportunity to dart forward and deal some serious damage. With the weasel held down, she darted forward from her position on the sidelines and rapidly slashed her claws across it's body, aiding in holding it down with the pressure from her blows.

Ivystar used Rending Front Paws, dealing -20 Health Points and using -25 Stamina Points.

Her attack served well for Ivystar to get into position, and as the leader darted forward Dewlight used the opportunity to release her grip on the weasel's head and reposition herself for her next attack. As the creature's head burst through the surface of the water hissing and lashing out blindly, she reared back on her hind paws and sent both paws towards it's head, battering it from either side before landing back on her paws neatly. In it's blind rage of pain, the weasel twisted suddenly and bit into her shoulder. Eyes widening with the sudden, unexpected pain, Dewlight hissed and turned so Ivystar could reach it easily. If she started to panic, that would make it that much harder to get rid of this thing.

Dewlight used Upright Front Paws, dealing 11 damage and using 20 SP. Weasel used Gripping Bite, dealing 10 damage to Dewlight and costing 30 SP.

Ivystar watched as Dewlight attacked the weasel, sending it into a fit of rage and pain, and locking itself onto her shoulder. In such a position, there was nothing that Dewlight would be able to do to get it off of her quickly- so, without much hesitation, Ivystar darted forward and, careful not to tear through her Clanmate's skin and muscle, reared up on her hind legs. Before the creature had a chance to respond or block her attack, she came down with unsheathed claws and battered its slinky, mousy-furred body, sending blood splattering in every direction before she landed on her paws. The weasel quickly went limp and fell to the ground, and with a small sigh, Ivystar mewed to the she-cat, "We should get you to Dennis, he'll be able to make sure that doesn't get infected and help with the pain."

Ivystar used Rear-Up to Slash, dealing -20 Health Points and using -15 Stamina Points.

Ivystar took the chance that Dewlight had hoped she would, and the weasel released it's bite as it fell limp to the ground. The cool newleaf air hitting her wound made it sting, but it wasn't mind-numbing pain. That was a relief. Turning to Ivystar as she spoke, Dewlight nodded, casting a glance to the still creature they had defeated. "Sounds good. The queens will be happy to hear they'll be able to return with their kits, and not have to worry about that." With a nod, the warrior turned and began to limp back towards camp alongside Ivystar.
