A Hunting We Will Go [OPEN]

Moonshine woke just before the sun disappeared over the horizon. She was eager to start her hunting, now a fully fledged warrior of Shadowclan. She made her way to the edge of camp and waited to see who else would be awake soon. Once the camp began to stir, she looked around at her clanmates to see who seemed ready to hunt and who might need a little more time waking up. She hadn't interacted much with other cats in the clan besides Mistyfalcon, so she naturally looked for him, but she also reminded herself that she needed to interact with all of the clan. Not just her mentor.

"I'm going to the Pine Grove to hunt tonight, is anyone else heading that way?" She asked politely. She knew there were other places to hunt, but she preferred the Pine Grove. Maybe not everyone did. Her tail flicked nervously, as although Flintstar had named her a warrior, she had to wonder if others in Shadowclan had accepted her in the same way.

"Good evening, Moonshine! I'll come along, I was thinking of heading that way myself!" Murkystrike greeted the new warrior with a wave of her tail and a smile. Moonshine had been Mistyfalcon's apprentice, and Murkystrike was curious to see her at work. Besides, a hunt was always nice.

With Murkystrike's approach, Moonshine smiled a bit. "Awesome. Glad to have you!" Moonshine watched for others, but it didn't look like anyone else was headed to the pine groves. That was fine, and anyone could catch up with them if they wanted to. "I've been hearing a lot of interesting things around camp lately..." She began with a small, mischievous tug at the corners of her lips. She lead the way to the Pine Grove as they talked.

"He was only my mentor, but I can tell he's a decent tom." She was obviously referring to Mistyfalcon. A mouse ran by her feet and she pounced on it immediately. Unfortunately a snake had also been after that mouse and struck at Moonshine's toes. "Oh get out of here..." She growled, taking a swipe at it.

The two waited a bit longer, but as no one else approached they eventually headed off themselves. The silence was broken before long by Moonshine, and Murkystrike smiled sheepishly, glancing over at the other she-cat. "Have you? I think Flintstar is the only one that doesn't know, especially with Rosepaw gushing about it to every cat she comes across." She admitted, sounding a little embarrassed, but not terribly so. She had gotten used to the apprentice's teasing, for the most part. Murkystrike smiled and nodded at Moonshine's observation, but was interrupted as a mouse passed by under their paws. A snake followed it, and as swiftly as it struck out at Moonshine it was dead. "Snakes..." She groaned, looking at the long body. "They're the worst. Hopefully there aren't any more around, but with it getting warmer... We'll want to watch our step." The mouse was probably long gone, but another scent caught her nose. Opening her mouth to better pinpoint where the smell was coming from, she slowly tracked it to the roots of a nearby bush. There it was, a vole scuffling through the low branches. It's back was turned, and she crouched to get as close as she could before attempting to catch it. Her teeth met the vole's neck, and she swiftly bit down and the creature went limp. Carefully backing out of the bush, she set about burying the vole to collect later.
