Blossoms From Tears

Blossomstep sat at the edge of the frozen creek, staring down at her reflection in the ice. To the sides were two additional figures, one to her right and one further behind her to the left. She could feel their eyes on her pelt, and she could have sworn that she saw another one of the ragged, disturbing pelt of an Asylum rogue trudging through the undergrowth on the far side of the creek. She had avoided this spot for a while, the last time she had been here she had fallen through the ice, had a massive argument with Wolfstar, and fled into the trees away from him. However, today she had returned to attempt to hunt. As she waited for the forest to settle though, she found that she could hardly concentrate on the hunt ahead. Visions of Wolfstar's face, twisted in rage and pain, seemed to reflect back at her instead of her own visage. Her ears twisted backwards as she heard a rustle, and when the sound came again she tore her attention away from the ice covered water. The rogues had moved, one backing off as the other drew closer. How they thought any cat could hunt with all these extra cats prowling around was beyond her, but she was done trying to make sense of it all. Turning her back on them once again, she moved away and dropped into a crouch before leaping into some low-hanging branches, trying her chances in the trees. Before long, a squirrel emerged from a hole in a nearby tree, scurrying along the length of a branch close to her. Preparing to strike, Blossomstep carefully moved along her branch and braced to make her leap.
