Stood on a Cliffside [c]

Yew was glad that he was allowed to be out alone, unlike the clan cats. Of course, just like it was in the forest, he wasn't completely alone, but that gave him a feeling of security. He was pretty sure that Thunderclan didn't feel the same about being watched though. None of them seemed to be interested in being friends with him, but he had gained some friends amongst Asylum ranks. But he still wasn't that close to any of them, and it usually only made him miss his littermates more. He could probably go visit them if he wanted to, but at the moment watching the forest was more important than personal feelings.

Often, he came to the Skyclan border, hoping in vain to catch a glimpse of an Asylum cat over there who might know (or even be!, he thought excitedly) his father. Of course, hovering around the border waiting for a cat he had never met before wouldn't work, so instead he was hunting. Since he had only ever known snow, he had no difficulty catching prey in it, or at least compared to some of the older cats. Many of Asylum, like Eos, were used to much warmer temperatures, and complained about the snow a lot more than him.

Something rustled in the trees, but it sounded far too large be a bird. Is that a cat? "Hello?" He called out, confused and facing the sky.

Dawnhawk himself was out hunting, needing to be away from Skyclan camp for awhile. A lot had happened lately... he found himself handling things in a less logical manner than he should. Something had to be fixed. He could feel his mind slipping. Was this the result of too much power? He was Skyclan's deputy... the traitor too. He had also been given the rank of Standard Captain... and now he was eyeing Wolfstar and waiting for him to mess up. He needed to get him killed... eight times. How hard could that be? Unfortunately it was no easy task. This would require a lot of time and energy... and planning. Once Wolfstar was dead, Dawnhawk would take the lead of Skyclan. What then? Perhaps he would start gunning for Eris's job as well.

Dawnhawk dropped down onto a lower branch from the tree he was stalking squirrels in, though the tree rats were in short supply at the moment. That was when he took note of another cat... an asylum cat... standing at the border between Thunderclan and Skyclan. A slash mark on his shoulder told Dawnhawk that he was a Standard. He looked quite young...

"State your name Standard," Dawnhawk called down to him. He knew not everyone had been at the meeting that had named him the Standard Capatin, so he would inform as many as possible of who he was and what rank he now held. Dawnhawk made sure that the appropriate shoulder was facing the other Standard, showing him the Captain's Scars.

"Y-Yew." The lanky tom said automatically, still shocked that a cat could scamper through the trees like a squirrel. But there was only more surprises to come.

Yew had to crane his neck slightly to get a proper look, but his first assumptions hadn't betrayed him. Those were Standard Captain's scars. His own Captain. He had missed the ceremony, not on purpose, but because he assumed he would just hear about what happened through everyone else. And he certainly had. It was Dawnhawk. Surely that would make it easier to get to know him, right? If they were the same faction, which they were now. 

"Dad?" Now he looked, there wasn't much mistaking it. Just like Eos had described, even a little similar to Ivory in appearance. He had spent his whole life waiting for this. He had reached the top now, so where was he supposed to go? Nothing could ever, ever get better than this. "I'm your son! Eos's kit! You must always be so busy, 'cause you never came to see us. But we can be a big happy family now, right? I mean, of course, we're all across different clans, but we can still visit each other!" Now that he had babbled on for a bit, he stopped himself. After all, he didn't want to overload Dawnhawk with questions.

So. A number of things was supposed to happen at this moment. This Yew kid was supposed to acknowledge that Captain Scars, maybe question what had happened to Iniko... normal things like that. What happened instead was...

"Dad?"

And Dawnhawk's mouth had opened to say something else, but he froze in one spot. He leaned forward to look at Yew closer. This patchy... thing didn't look anything like him. He squinted as the kid kept talking. He supposed that his son had taken after Eos quite a bit. Too much even. Personality wise he didn't seem to be... like either of them.

"Yew," He said firmly, making it clear that he wanted the younger tom to stop flapping his gums. Dawnhawk leaped off of the tree and landed gracefully onto the ground. He closed the distance between himself and his supposed son, eyeing the tom curiously as he approached.

"I'm the new Standard Captain... your Captain." He spoke firmly, but slowly. "I expect another Asylum Standard to act more professional than this. You have your job, I have mine. We will see each other when we're both at the Camp. Do you understand?" It wasn't the happy family reunion that Yew wanted probably, but the Asylum was a tough organization. Yew would never make it if Dawnhawk wasn't tough on him.

"Who else was in your litter?"

Yew immediately snapped his mouth shut when Dawnhawk spoke. He watched the tom in wonder as he finally leapt down from the tree, letting the younger cat see him on level ground. At least he didn't feel crazy and like he was talking to the birds anymore. "Oh... uh sorry." So he puts the title of 'Captain' a rank above 'Dad'? He thought he understood it - professionalism and all that. Didn't mean it didn't hurt though.

However, his face lit up again at the warrior's question. He is interested! His mind shouted. Maybe it was some kind of test...., yeah definitely a test. "Ivory, who's in Shadowclan, and Paisley and Goose... who I haven't seen in a while." How was he only realising this now? To be fair, he had been very caught up in training and trying to keep an eye on Thunderclan.

And also busy waiting for this exact meeting, something he deeply regretted now.
