Honeykit's Apprentice Ceremony

Maplewhisker leaped to the top of the Tallrock, a small amount of dust rising up where her paws just pushed of the ground.  As she settled at the top, she caught the faintest warmth of sunlight hitting her pelt.  She suppressed a shiver as a wind swept up, ruffling her fur.  Moving on to the reason she had come up here, she yowled the summons for her first apprentice ceremony.
"Let all cats old enough to run on the moor gather beneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!"

Honeykit was thankful to be alive. After losing her mother and siblings along the long, arduous journey to the Clans, she had been lonely. But once the Clan found her, she was now among a new family spanning greater than she could've ever imagined. Now, though, she was kicking the last of her sickness away. A sickness that almost claimed her life despite it all. When she heard the voice yowling for a Clan meeting, her eyes sparkled like stars. It was time!

The kit moved her way to the Tallrock.

Maplewhisker looked down at the excited kit, reminding Maplewhisker of her own apprentice ceremony.

"Honeykit, please step foreward," Maplewhisker called down, and watched the kit pad toward the Tallrock. "From now on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Honeypaw," she felt excited to be repeating the words she had heard spoken for her whole life.
"I will be your mentor."

Honeykit's paws were full of fire, like the poison lacing every sting of the bees guarding her namesake.

This was it! As she heard her name called, the kit did exactly as she was asked and moved towards the Tallrock. She wasn't by any means small, but seeing such a towering sight always inspired awe in her. Even if she'd only been here a few moons. The kit-named-apprentice nodded, grinning madly. She prepared to touch noses.

Maplewhisker leaped down from the Tallrock, the ceremony almost concluded, and walked up to Honeykit.
"You'll do great," she told the newly-named apprentice.  Maplewhisker touched noses with her new apprentice, excited for the times they would share together, mentor and apprentice.
