| Primroselight, much like a lot of her clan, was torn between being on-edge and grieving. The loss of her sister had been hard, and now she truly knew how her father had felt when Mistrain had died. She blamed herself for never spending enough time with Dustpaw, in-between her endless training and the chaos of what had happened during their apprenticeship. It had lead to her usual cheerful exterior to be shattered, and now she had to pick up the pieces. But she needed to be there for her parents and Beechpaw, especially Beechpaw. She had lost her sister and her mentor to the same fate in such short time. Dawnhawk seemed... not in need of help? He definitely didn't need a shoulder to cry on, to put it gently.
When Bloodstrike - who, so far, was doing a very good job as deputy - had told her that she was hunting with Redfall she had felt strangely indifferent. Part of her wanted to properly speak to the older warrior, offer him comfort if needed, but he didn't seem like the kind of cat who would welcome it. She didn't dislike him for attacking Wrenspring, even though it was undeniably wrong, but more blamed him for abandoning his kits, even if they still lived in the clan. He might've been there physically for them, but he was worlds away emotionally. And now one of them had disappeared with the other kits.
Thoughts tossed and turned in her head as she waited for the warrior outside the camp entrance, her tail flicking side to side. Hopefully they wouldn't run into any foxes, but even if they did, they should be fine. Smokefeather had somehow managed to kill one pretty much alone as Copperpaw (who hadn't really been the same since) was scared and untrained. Primroselight didn't even want to imagine what would've happened if her and Graypaw had run into a fox and not and owl. It wouldn't have ended well, and that was all that needed to be said.
Before too long, the tom appeared in front of her, and she mewed a greeting. "Oh, hi." she said, breaking from her train of thought, "Are you ready to go?" ______________________________________ character profiles | plotting pages↣ ↢ Brindlepaw | Thunderclan Apprentice | [20/60]Violetsky | Skyclan T2 Warrior | [40/100]Foxflower | Windclan Permaqueen| [50/80]↣ ↢ deceased/missing: Brighteye, Dappleleaf, Yew, Mistlebright, Magpiesight, Wisteriabloom, Primroselight, Muddythorn, Silversnake, Finchpaw, Aoife |

| Bloodstrike was assigning him to patrols. It was about time. Redfall didn’t like the idea of going with a large group, so at least it was just him and Primroselight. Though she seemed to be more sensitive. Hopefully he could get the idea across that they were here to hunt, not talk. “Yes,” he said. He wasn’t going to wait for her and led the way out of camp. She was also blind, therefore wouldn’t be the head of a patrol.
He headed towards the Moonlit Creek. He still had scabs of the battle with the foxes, and worse was watching Sagelight die in front of him, without being able to do anything. Some cats overworked themself to distract their minds from the grief. Redfall didn’t. He had a harsher mindset - life of a Clan cat, warrior or not, meant death. Sagelight knew that. He died for his Clan in battle.
Still, dwelling on the thoughts made it worse. Redfall glanced upwards, at the trees hanging over the creek (which was full for a first). There were two squirrels at the top, poking their heads into a hole, maybe made by a woodpecker. He dug his claws into the tree and silently pulled himself onto the first branch. He was good at tree hunting over land hunting. Small form, muscular legs. His eyes focused on the squirrels. They were high up, in branches he couldn’t reach, but maybe from another tree he could.
There was an oak beside him which he leapt onto now, and rose until he was higher than the squirrels, and in a good position to drop down on them. Redfall did so without a word. He landed on the branch, and within a second it snapped due to his weight. The squirrels came down with him, and in midair he was able to get a grip on one of their tails and right himself for landing just in time. The second one went in the opposite direction of Primroselight. Oh well. It was lucky enough to survive for now.
Redfall caught a squirrel for 3 sp. 237/240

| Primroselight picked up Redfall's message quickly - he didn't want to talk, they were there to patrol and not to chat. Personally, she would've preferred at least the slightest bit of conversation on their way to the creek. But if he wanted to remain silent, she would stay with her own thoughts. They weren't the most comforting at the moment, so she was glad that the hunt would distract her. She had never even hunted with Dustpaw... No. She had to clear her mind a bit if she was going to catch anything.
The call of a blackbird caught her attention somewhere, and so she instead diverted her mind to that. It didn't take long for its scent to cross her path, and when it did, she tracked it carefully, keeping as quiet as possible. She pounced, her claws landing securely over the body of the bird and she nipped the back of its neck. Happy that she seemed to have better luck with hunting now that she was in her own territory, she buried her catch and turned to search for more prey.
Primroselight used 3 SP to catch a blackbird. Catch was successful! 127/130 ______________________________________ character profiles | plotting pages↣ ↢ Brindlepaw | Thunderclan Apprentice | [20/60]Violetsky | Skyclan T2 Warrior | [40/100]Foxflower | Windclan Permaqueen| [50/80]↣ ↢ deceased/missing: Brighteye, Dappleleaf, Yew, Mistlebright, Magpiesight, Wisteriabloom, Primroselight, Muddythorn, Silversnake, Finchpaw, Aoife

| The full creek was a magnet to prey. The recent drought was in everyone’s minds, and that included prey. Squirrel and bird nests were lining trees, mice and voles were foraging at the edge of the river, and there were even fish inside the river (as if he would try to catch one). Primroselight was having success with her hunting as well. It would have to be a successful expedition - even if a predator came, he could fight one off with her help. She may have been blind, but she’d been named as a warrior. It counted for something.
Redfall stalked to the edge of the creek, eyes on a water vole drinking from the edge. He sunk into a practiced crouch and sprang almost instantly. His paws trapped the creature onto the riverbank’s stones and he gave it a nip to the neck. It was pleasing to have a hunt like this - not too far in and so much success. The ginger tabby buried the vole next to his squirrel and waited for Primroselight to make a catch.

| Just as she had planned, Primroselight was beginning to put all her energy into hunting. It was nice to clear her mind a bit, and loose herself in the task at paw. She was glad that the hunt had been going so well for both of them in their still recovering territory. The social warrior wasn't used to hunting in almost complete silence, but she didn't try and make conversation with the unwilling tom.
Hoping to continue the success, she padded further down the creek, in the direction of Riverclan territory. Here the stream grew a little wider, and lots of low branches hung with their leaves touching the water. She knew that she wouldn't be able to catch anything actually in the tree, but maybe trying a different spot would be a good idea. Before long, she scented a squirrel nearby and stalked it away from the creek slightly, making sure she was quiet and careful. She neared the little fluffy-tailed prey and prepared to pounce.
As she shifted her weight so she would leap further, she crushed a twig underneath her back foot. Both hunter and prey panicked, and just before the squirrel could bolt up a tree, Primroselight pounced. To her happy surprise, her claws landed over the prey and she killed it. She retraced her steps slightly, with her catch in her mouth, just so she could bury it somewhere nearer to their previous successes.

| Redfall wasn't in a good mood after their success (was he ever?), but at least he was satisfied with the amount they would have to bring home. A blackbird, a vole, and two squirrels was probably all they could get before luck turned and a predator appeared, attracted by the scent of prey. He signaled with his tail to end the patrol, but sighed to himself as he remembered Primroselight was blind. "If we stay out any longer an eagle or fox will likely appear," he said flatly, "so I'm leaving. You can stay or leave - I'm not responsible for that." His tail twitched in a self-satisfied manner as he uncovered the earth for his vole and squirrel. He paid no mind to if Primroselight was following him or not as he walked strode back towards camp at a brisk pace. |

| Primroselight jumped slightly as Redfall spoke for pretty much the first time since they left camp, but promptly agreed with him. "Ok, I'll follow you back then." It was unusual in a way that they had had a predator-free hunting trip, as they were so sparse. The forest was full of dangers for prey and cats alike. After a few short seconds, she managed to locate her prey from earlier and quickly brushed the dirt away before picking them up. A squirrel and a blackbird was quite a lot to carry in her mouth at once, but if she didn't talk she would be less likely to choke on the feathers. She followed the sound of Redfall's paw steps back to camp, taking a while as she was still getting used to the charred territory. ______________________________________ character profiles | plotting pages↣ ↢ Brindlepaw | Thunderclan Apprentice | [20/60]Violetsky | Skyclan T2 Warrior | [40/100]Foxflower | Windclan Permaqueen| [50/80]↣ ↢ deceased/missing: Brighteye, Dappleleaf, Yew, Mistlebright, Magpiesight, Wisteriabloom, Primroselight, Muddythorn, Silversnake, Finchpaw, Aoife |
