Vines in the Mist (closed)

"All right! It's time to get to training!" Vinetail said at the entrance of the apprentices den. He was getting mistypaw so they could train.

Mistypaw lifted his head at the sound of his mentor's voice, then carefully picked his way out of the den to avoid waking any sleeping apprentices.

"What are we doing?" He asked, tail tip flicking in a show of half curiosity, half excitement to finally start training.

"We are going to go hunting!" He meowed.

Hunting sounded fine by Mistypaw. The hot greenleaf had made prey just a bit harder to find, he knew, and hunting was something that was a basic survival skill. It was better to learn it sooner rather than later, he figured.

With a nod, Mistypaw would calmly follow his mentor out of camp whenever he got moving.

He padded out of camp, excite to finally train an apprentice!

When they finally got there, he looked back to make sure his apprentice was following.

Mistypaw followed his mentor out of camp, giving Vinetail a slightly impatient look. Well? What was he waiting for?

Spotting a vole in the foliage, the dark apprentice slid into a crouch that he remembered watching some of the other apprentices practicing when he was a kit, blue eyes locking on the creature intently. Carefully, Mistypaw crept forward before leaping for the vole. His paws landed on the vole and he quickly ended the vole's life with a quick blow before turning back to his mentor.

"How was that for a first catch?"

"Learning as fast as I did, I see! You're doing great! All you need to do now, is keep your tail down." He commented. "Watch!" He meowed, stalking a mouse. He was light on his paws as to not alert the mouse he was there.
He leapt at it quietly and landed on top of it. He killed it with one swift bite, muttering a small prayer to starclan.

Mistypaw ducked his head shyly at Vinetail's praise, feeling his usual awkwardness come back to him. Stashing the vole beneath the roots of a tree, he turned to watch his mentor stalk after a mouse and successfully catch it.

The dark-furred apprentice spotted another mouse, and taking his mentor's advice into account, crouched and stalked forward, keeping his tail better-aligned with his shoulders and hips. When he was close enough, he pounced. His paws landed squarely on the mouse, and he made sure to kill the small creature quickly before turning back to his mentor with the mouse dangling from his jaws.

Mistypaw attempted to catch a mouse for -3sp. He was successful!

"Yes! Perfect!" Hold on... wasn't he supposed to be grumpy? Why was he so happy?

Feeling a bit more confident at Vinetail's praise, Mistypaw crept towards his next target, a lizard. The common slowworm was slowly moving across the ground, seemingly blissfully unaware of the dark apprentice creeping up on it. When he was close enough, Mistypaw pounced.

His paws landed on the roughly foot-and-a-half long lizard, and once more it fell with a quick bite.

Mistypaw attempted to catch a lizard, -3sp. Catch was successful!

(whoops forgot about this cause I was doing stuff with twig-)
He lashed his tail a bit, his mood suddenly changed. "You have to keep your body as close to the ground as possible." He mewed in his usual, grumpy tone. He crouched, demonstrating on a mouse. He leapt at it, hoping to show how the pounce was properly done.

As silently as possible, he bit it's neck and killed it, as to not alert the other creatures in the forest. He mumbled a prayer to starclan, as he always does when he catches prey.
