This place begins with a story, a whisper on the wind of a lost dog. This particular canine was fond of his humans, was close to his owners and loved them with all of his heart but so it goes when one door opens, another is closed and that is exactly what happened to Caesar. While the details of the morning are lost to time itself, Caesar ran through an open gate and found himself in the woods. Among these woods with miles to explore and a powerful nose to lead him, the dog continued further and further into the depths of the unknown until he was in the heart of Whitbourne. This place was a home to many, prey and predator alike but it was the wolves than ran it all; dominated all walks of life and hid beyond each crevice. While the wolves were initially skeptical of the dog, they welcomed the lost canine with open arms. Caesar was happy to have found a new home, a place to stay until his owner’s sought him out.
As the legend goes, Caesar and the wolf pack lived in harmony for many weeks, hunting together and sleeping alongside one another but outside of the boundary lines of Whitbourne, the humans stirred. What began as a search party for a lost and valued member of the family, ended in warfare against the plethora of canines in this area. The humans, eager as they were, marched into the forest with fire in their eyes and anger in their hearts and set flame to the forest’s edge. What began as a rescue mission, ended in slaughter.
The flames licked at the trees and surged through the forests edge for miles, tearing it’s mighty way across the valley and singeing all who were too slow to escape. Caesar and the wolf pack were awoken by screams, by those who were too late in the realization that something was very wrong. While the fire raged, the human’s advanced, weapons held high and screams erupting from their vicious mouths. They tracked the pack, backed only by the fire and slaughtered the wolves one by one until only a few remained. Caesar was immediately recognized by his family, who were among the crowd and they called him forth but the young dog was unable to make a choice. While the Alpha of the pack looked onward, disgust in his eyes and fury in his chest, Caesar could only do what he had to in order to survive and joined the plethora of human on the cusp of the dens.
The remaining wolves ran as fast as they could in order to get away from the humans, who would track them for days and while both Caesar and the remaining wolves survived, this attack would not be forgotten.
The wolves currently hold a grudge against all dogs, remembering the time they welcomed one with open arms and, quite literally, got burned. The dogs are curious of the wolves and as their numbers grow, so do the anxieties in and among the wolf packs.
Tensions are rising.
The wolves are on edge.
The dogs are growing in numbers.
What side will you be on?
Welcome to Whitbourne
