Pinepaw's Mentor Change Ceremony

Nettlefire made her away to the top of the Highrock. It was time to conduct another ceremony; though in this case it was one she did not have to do very often. A mentor change ceremony would usually not be a very happy occasion-- more often than not it meant something bad had happened to someone. That's certainly what it had meant last time she had gone through one of these ceremonies. But, thankfully, that wasn't the case today.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!" she called, looking down towards the clearing with clear emerald eyes.

After his father's retirement, Nettlefire had deemed Pinepaw fit for a new mentor. The tom wasn't exactly thrilled about the idea, having enjoyed his freedom to go where he pleased following the days of Harefoot's elder ceremony. It made the cat feel like a warrior, lacking the name yet sporting the maturity. Soon he'd get there, but for now, Pinepaw sat below the Highrock, waiting for the name of the new cat who'd to escort him to warriorhood.

Nettlefire gave Pinepaw a nod of acknowledgement after he arrived.

"Pinepaw," The deputy called, "Since Harefoot has retired to the elder's den, you will need a new mentor to see you through the remainder of your apprenticeship. Dustcloud will be your new mentor until you reach warriorhood,"

Pinepaw nodded, honored to have such an experienced warrior to be named as his new mentor. His green eyes sought Dustcloud out of the clearing, and as he made his way over to her, Pinepaw wondered if she, too, would retire to the elder's den soon.
