"Heeeell-OOOOOO?? I'm HUNGRY here???"

Dead in the middle of camp, a lone silver kit sat screaming his star-forsaken tail off. It didn't matter that the fresh-kill pile was literally less than two fox-lengths from the little tom. In fact, he didn't even seem to notice the thing with all his caterwauling. He paused for a moment to drag his little pink tongue over his delicate forepaw, tucking his silky tail over his other paws neatly.

Sheesh, it was almost as if there wasn't a single apprentice around. Didn't they know a kit could starve out here? It was the middle of greenleaf, after all. Wasn't it their job to feed poor little kits like him?

He was pretty sure it was.

Batbite, lazing in the sunshine that dappled the forest floor, was roused from her not-quite-sleeping state by the yowl of a kit. Drawing to her paws, she darted to the source - a kit sitting not too far from the fresh-kill pile, yelling at the top of his lungs. Trying to hide her amusement, she sat nearby and fixed him with a neutral stare. "What in the name of the stars is going on over here?"

Pinepaw lay on his back in the apprentice's den, staring at the rays of light that would cut through the ferns. His green eyes blinked slowly in bliss as the tom rolled over, enjoying the sunlight. It was only when a loud caterwauling shook the camp that he detached himself from his nest. Pinepaw's first thought was dogs, but when he arrived at the scene to see Batbite consoling a very loud kit, he knew that this event would be much more interesting. Pinepaw arrived next to Batbite's side, giving her an amused grin with the confidence only he could muster. "Ey! You're hungry but you can't even hunt? When I was your age, I brought down a 'hole nest of spiders! Stop screaming and I'll show you where they hide."

Rosepaw was just setting down some of her catches by the fresh-kill pile when she heard a very, very loud yowl. Flinching slightly then turning around to see whoever was making that sound to ~~give them a piece of her mind~~ try and solve the problem, her first reaction when she saw the kit was to purr in amusement. "The fresh-kill pile is that way." Rosepaw pointed her tail towards the pile of food behind her and nodded at the tiny tom-kit.
