Ashflame ducked into the den and gently prodded at a sleeping form. Some of the others were still snoring, but she knew training started early. At least it did for her. "Hey, Wolfpaw," she called softly, "wake up. Time for training." She backed out of the den and waited for Wolfpaw to follow.

"You can eat something first," Ashflame instructed when she saw her apprentice emerge, nodding at the fresh-kill pile. She didn't take anything for herself, however. Then Ashflame led the way out of camp and into the forest. "This should be your first time out of camp, isn't it?" she asked, "We can take some time to explore the territory first, or dive straight into training. What do you think?"

It felt awkward. Ashflame wasn't used to teaching and had no experience at all. She did the best she could, based on what she had learned from her own mentor on their first day together. Redwolf had also given her a choice.
