Kits 'n' Warriors

Brightkit carefully slipped out the nursery, wanting to get away from the rough and tumble of the other kit's play. It was sometimes fun to watch, apart from when a bigger kit came barrelling into her where she sat in her nest. After stepping out, she immediately regretted her decision. Even though the camp was deep in the pine forests, the bright sun still broke through the branches, and the muggy air was a stark difference to the cool shade of the nursery. Not wanting to go back to the battling nursery, she crept to the shadows around the edge of camp and decided to explore, hoping no one would see her and send her back to the other kits.

Ebonysong was out and about in camp. Again. The dark grey warrior growled as her pelt itched irritatedly as the hot sun pricked at her pelt. WHY can’t we just go back to Newleaf? Ebonysong grumbled in her head. Icy-blue eyes flashing even more in the golden rays of sunlight, she turned her head towards the nursery, and spotted one of the kits walking out. “Oh...hello! First time out of the nursery? That must be fun! Don’t worry, I’m not going to be sending you back if you don’t want to.” Ebonysong grinned as she remembered her own fun times sneaking out of the nursery. “I don’t think I’ve seen you around much...” ShadowClan had lots of kits these days and Ebonysong couldn’t wait to meet all of them.

Startled at the sudden appearance of the much larger and older warrior, Brightkit fought against her sudden urge to run back to the nursery. But she couldn't make a fool of herself, not in front of a warrior! Rooting her paws to the ground, she looked up and met the older cat's gaze. It was a warm friendly look, which help her relax her tense shoulders. "Hi, I'm Brightkit, thanks for not sending me back to the nursery - I don't like it much in there." 
She didn't want to say to much, as it was her first time meeting a cat in her clan who wasn't another kit or her kin, so she was worried about sounding whiny or immature, but she also thought about how the other kits would be jealous if she made friends with a warrior. Maybe she would be better at just sitting and spending time as friends, rather than trying to wrestle with her or yammering in her ear.

Ebonysong nodded. “I see...the nursery can be boring at times.” Her icy-blue eyes glinted mischievously. “Do you want to...maybe play a game? You seem kind of bored.” The dark gray warrior dipped a head in question, hoping Brightkit would say yes. Ebonysong hadn’t seemed to interact with her Clanmates much recently, and she figured that it would be a good time to change that.

"Ok.." Brightkit said nervously. She knew she should respect the older she-cat, but she wasn't the type for rough play-fighting and loud games. The idea sounded better than being in the nursery, and would give her a reason to be away from the other kits. "What do you want to play?" she added slowly. Maybe it would be nice to make friends with her, as her grandfather would encourage her to make allies and connections with other cats, as long as they were ShadowClan and he didn't dislike them.
