A Friendly Acquaintance (Closed)

Willowheart padded around ThunderClan territory. She was on a solo patrol, which was pretty calming, especially after the effects of the Gathering. Willowheart sighed, coming across a little stream. Sitting down nearby, she dipped her paws into the water, washing her muzzle and licking her fur clean of dirt and splinters. Suddenly, Willowheart scented something...that was definitely not ThunderClan, nor prey scent. “Who’s there?” Willowheart called out, preparing herself for a sneak attack of some sort.

Willow was exploring the only part of the forest she hadn't been to before - ThunderClan territory. As the calico wandered about the tall trees and thick underbrush, trying not to step on thorns or get caught in bushes, she heard the sound of water. Maybe there are fish I can catch in the water! she thought, tail twitching in excitement. But when she crept closer, someone called out asking who was there. The loner froze. After losing several battles on clan territory, she couldn't be sure this wouldn't end in a fight. Cautiously, she stepped out from behind a nearby bramble. Spotting a pale she-cat with blue eyes at the edge of a small stream, which probably wasn't large enough to hold any fish. And if there were any fish, they would have been scared away by the ThunderClan warrior's shadow on the water's surface. Noticing that the other she-cat was alone, Willow relaxed a bit, knowing she should be able to defeat one warrior. "The name's Willow," she introduced with a bit of hostile tone. There was no harm in giving a name, was there? "And you are...?"

Willowheart examined the intruder with slight surprise. She wasn’t expecting a loner. The calico she-cat seemed very thin, even for the Clans. Willowheart felt slightly concerned for this...Willow. “Hello...Willow. I’m Willowheart. It’s...funny how we share the same name...or at least part of our names.” Willowheart smiled tensely, because she was in no condition to fight. The giant battle had taken a serious toll on her...and she was still weak, physically and mentally. “Uh...why don’t you catch some mice? You look really thin.” She suggested.

"Willowheart... how weird," Willow mused, testing out the warrior's name. "I don't need to catch mice. I'm living on my own perfectly fine," she retorted in response to Willowheart's rude (in her opinion) comment. "Honestly, if you want, go catch some mice yourself. I'll get going, and explore some more before I leave, and you can go do whatever you need to do," she left the words hanging in the air as she trotted away, keeping an ear out for any sounds that the other cat might attack when her back was turned.

Willowheart was slightly taken aback. Hmm...must be some loner stuff. Welp, I can just hunt myself then. She nodded towards the loner, Willow, and turned around, back to where she was hunting mice.  Sighing, Willowheart stalked towards a small mouse, pretty tiny for newleaf prey. Willowheart bunched up her haunches, and leaped in a high arc, crashing down onto the mouse. She killed it with a swift bite, with one paw pressing the tail of the mouse to not let it escape. Unsheathing her claws, Willowheart dug a hole in the ground, pushed the mouse in, and filled it up with dirt again. Sitting back onto her paws elegantly, she watched the loner hunt.

Willow bounded away from the small stream where she had met Willowheart and deeper into the forest, not interested in the warrior any longer now that she was gone. With no intent to hunt, she tried her best to avoid getting caught in bushes and thorns as she explored more of the territory. Overgrown with brambles, underbrush, and other plants, she really wondered why anyone would want to live there. Wasn't it annoying spending every day plucking out thorns from their paws? Or trying to clean themselves of the dirt that surely coated their fur after each day? In her opinion, it would be way better living with a river full of fish that never ran out of prey. Willow shook her head at the absurdness. Clan cats were crazy, no offense to her RiverClan friends.
