melting ice and cherry blossoms (closed)

Now that ThunderClan had fallen victim to the plague that ran rife through the camp, Cherryblossom had found it more important than ever for her and her healthy Clanmates to work hard and provide for those who were ill. Despite the nightmares that had been growing more frequent in her sleeping hours, she'd been working her paws off. Today was no different, and she led the way through the gorse tunnel and up the ravine, Icecloud at her side. When the pair was in the forest deep enough, Cherryblossom nodded to the other warrior and split off, scenting for prey.

Icecloud knew that since she wasn’t ill that she needed to get food for her clan. She didn’t want anyone to die or go hungry. She nodded when they split up and smelled for prey. Prey should be good, but she planned on getting a good bit for the clan.

The scent of mouse crossed her nose, and she soon saw the rodent in question a little ways away from her. She dropped into a hunting crouch, and stalked towards the mouse, careful to note the wind direction and where she was setting her paws down. Once she was close enough to the mouse, she leaped. Her paws slammed down on the spot where the mouse was moments before, and she lashed her tail as she turned to look for more prey.

Icecloud smelt squirrel. She saw the squirrel burying acorns. She stayed downwind as she carefully stalked the prey. She waited until the squirrel was occupied burying an acorn before trying to strike. The she-cat didn’t want to make the squirrel hear her and run off. She crouched and leapt onto the squirrel striking its head and killing it. She buried her kill and went on looking for more prey.

Cherryblossom didn't have to wait long until she caught the scent of another mouse in the undergrowth, and she slunk towards it, trying to be a little more careful this time. When she was close enough to see it, and was confident that she'd be able to catch it, she pounced. This time, her aim was true, and she felt the mouse under her paws as she pinned it to the ground. She nipped the back of its neck before it could squeal, and she quickly buried it to return to later.
