OOC: Only the person who rolled predator encounter controls the predator

Marshcloud followed up Ebonypaw's blow with his own, clawing at the owl's feathered stomach with all the strength he could muster. His claws dug deep into the large bird, and it screeched in pain. Marshcloud gave the bird a last, defiant hiss, hoping to scare it off before it attacked again. He wasn't going to still be standing if it struck at him one more time.

Thankfully, the painful strike combined with the intimidation tactic paid off, and the owl flew off into the horizon.

Marshcloud sat down with a heavy thunk, breathing in shaky heaves. Everything was swirling, and black dots danced on the edge of his vision. He felt like he might pass out at any minute.

Ebonypaw looked at her mentor, concern darkening her gaze. “Marshcloud? Do you need help? Do you need Mothglow?” She asked. Padding over to her mentor, she nudged him slightly, trying to make him stand up. “Should we go back now?” Ebonypaw asked, a bit tired herself. “I’m exhausted and you should get some sleep.”

Marshcloud nodded weakly.

"Y-yes. Yes. Yes. I think-- I think that'd be for the best. Heading back now," he smiled at his apprentice. "Getting some sleep sounds fantastic," though he doubted he'd get nearly enough, even exhausted as he was. He hadn't been having any luck on that front these days.

He managed to pull himself up and began leading Ebonypaw back towards camps.

"You did a great job, Ebonypaw," he told her, "Especially since it was your first ever fight, and I hadn't even gotten a chance to train you in basic battle moves yet. And it was really brave of you to jump in like that, really."

Ebonypaw smiled at her mentor’s praise. She supported him at the left flank, nudging him up ever so often. As they arrived at the warrior’s den, Ebonypaw turned towards her mentor. “You’re a great mentor. We can spar another day.” Making sure that Marshcloud was in his nest, Ebonypaw padded to the apprentice’s den, and promptly collapsed onto the moss, falling asleep.
