red sunsets and golden stars (closed)

As the sun set, painting the sky beautiful hues of red and orange, Redpaw watched as the sky changed, growing ever darker until the Clan would rise as the night fell. Despite ShadowClan operating mostly in the nighttime, Redpaw enjoyed watching the sun set, the light show that the sky offered being a nice reward for her early rising. Truth be told, the previous night, she'd been assigned to a sunset patrol by her deputy and mentor, and needed to be up early for that, though she didn't mind too much, considering the sunset had been extra pretty that night.

The red sky almost matching her red fur, she looked around for the cats that she'd been assigned to patrol with, and she soon caught sight of Goldenpaw making her way towards the red apprentice. With a tail flick, she noticed how the red light played nicely with her fellow apprentice's golden fur to make a nice orange hue, and she soon caught herself staring at the pretty apprentice. She quickly tore her gaze from Goldenpaw as one of the warriors that'd be accompanying the pair padded up, and she returned her greeting.

"Evening, Goldenpaw. The sunset sure is pretty tonight, isn't it?"
Small talk? That's the best you can do?
The red apprentice hadn't realized that even though the pair hadn't interacted too much outside the den, she considered her denmate pretty. With a tail flick, she looked back up to the sky, where the red streaks still spilled over the horizon.
Soon enough, the second warrior in the patrol joined the forming group, and Redpaw stood in preparation to leave once her denmate had joined.

Goldenpaw approached Redpaw, the slow swishing of her tail definitely not accidental. While she wasn't entirely thrilled to be going out on a patrol when she could be sleeping or chatting, she was glad for the opportunity to see if this Redpaw was of any interest. They'd never really spoken before, though Goldenpaw was anything but nervous. She'd caught the other apprentice staring, after all. "Hey, Redpaw."Her small smile became somewhat wider for a moment at Redpaw's attempt at small talk. She could hear the nervousness in her voice. Frankly, it was kind of adorable. "Yeah, it really is. I do think it brings out the gold in my pelt, don't you?" She flourished her tail a little for emphasis. As she spoke, the group began to move out of camp.

Pulling her gaze from the darkening sky, Redpaw looked back to Goldenpaw once she'd responded to the question. She glanced back to her denmate's pelt to see the gold turned to rich oranges in the fading light, and smiled at the little flourish of Goldenpaw's tail. She flicked her own plumy tail subconsciously as she responded,
"Yeah, it definitely makes your pelt stand out."

She followed the warriors out of the camp with her denmate by her side, taking in a breath of the cooling air, warm from the day.
"I'm glad newleaf is finally here. It's nice that the snow is going away, it's too cold! I'd always come back from patrol with frozen paws."

Goldenpaw blushed a bit at Redpaw's response, taken aback by her confidence. The blush went away quickly though, hardly noticable under her thick pelt. The she-cat came a bit closer to her denmate and looked around at her surroundings, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, the snow really matted my fur. I definitely prefer Newleaf, it's so much nicer! Plus you can actually see the sun instead of just clouds, which is always nice." She giggled quietly, feeling unusually giddy for some reason. Huh.
"So, I don't know anything about you. Who's your mentor? Are they nice?"

Redpaw smiled as they padded through the territory, a little seed of happiness blooming in her chest as she padded alongside Goldenpaw.
"StarClan, yeah, the snow getting matted in my fur was the worst!" she chuckled before continuing, "Ravenmist is my mentor! She's nice, though she's busy a lot."
She looked over at her denmate and felt her face heat up a little under her pelt, and she thanked that stars that her pelt was red, and that it hid her blush well.
"So, how about you? Who's your mentor, and what are they like?"
