Crowkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"ShadowClan! Gather beneath the shadow of the Jaggedrock!" Flintshard sat at the edge of the Jaggedrock, his watchful gaze lingering toward the nursery as he waited for Crowkit to make her appearance. He couldn't help but think back on when she had tried to convince him to make her an apprentice early - of the long conversation they had. She was a smart kit, a clever one. ...One that didn't act her age, much like himself. But that cleverness would only get one so far without the proper knowledge of how the world worked, how cruel it was and that you couldn't account for anything.

But Crowkit had finally reached six moons old, it was time for her to become an apprentice and get a taste of the harsh reality of things herself.

Crowkit stared out the nursery for a good long minute watching everyone before turning to look at her siblings and mother. They tried to seem excited for her ceremony but she knew they probably didn't care too much. That was okay though, Crowkit had better things to worry about. Now, at 6 moons old and finally able to get her apprentice ceremony the young molly was starting to see a bit of light in the long tunnel she had been traveling. She gave herself a final lick before standing and padding her way out towards the clearing. How many would actually notice her appearance and realize she was there? The little shadow finally coming into the light; she was not sure how she's take to being given more attention then she was used to even if it was a little bit but she put on a brave face; as brave as a blank face could get and padded her way closer to the Jaggedrock where she could see Flintshard waiting.

She liked the deputy; they were much alike in the way they thought and grew up. She hoped that whomever she was given to as an apprentice would know what they were doing to be able to handle a cat like Crowkit. Giving the deputy a small smile and a nod in greeting the spotted she-cat took her place among the crowd waiting for others to show up for her ceremony. All the while wondering what would happen in the next coming moons during her training.

Flintshard dipped his head in acknowledgement as his gaze met Crowkit's, turning to face the entirely of the Clan as he spoke. "I've called you all here to witness yet another apprentice ceremony. Crowkit, please step forward." As he waited for the kit to take her steps, he paused to think on the matter of who would be her mentor. Nearly every warrior had an apprentice already, and he couldn't be sure of who would do well with a kit who seemed to know much more than her age would suspect. Crowkit had once requested that he be her mentor and while he did already have Goldenpaw and Hollowpaw...He also couldn't deny that he had just lost an apprentice in Firepaw, as...Tragic as his sickness was.

He knew he could handle another and Firepaw's death had left an opening.

He raised his head as he turned to look at the kit once more. "Crowkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Crowpaw. I will be your mentor." As he finished, he pushed himself to his paws and leapt down from the rock, landing smoothly in front of Crowpaw. "We may have a kinship in how we view the world, Crowpaw, but do not suspect I will go easy on you. The world you are about to witness is cruel - I will do my best to brace you for that." With that, he leaned down to touch noses with the apprentice. "We will start your training tomorrow."
